According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Can i get lap band surgery with abdominal mesh in place?

Can i get lap band surgery with abdominal mesh in place?

Yes but ...: make sure you discuss that with your surgeon. It helps to have the operative records from previous surgeries as well. It also depends on how long ago that surgery was and if there were any complications. It most likely won't be an issue, but it is something to discuss with your surgeon in advance and to understand any potential risks. Good luck! ...Read more

Should I expect increased soreness as I advance in PT for pfps? Higher resistance on bands and more weight on extension machine (proven ready). Week 7

You could: It takes a very skilled physical therapy team to individualize and treat patellofemoral pain syndrome. Quadricep strengthening is needed by some; others have adequate quad strength but tight lateral structures, improper patellar alignment, etc. As they attempt to correct these, other structures in the knee could be impacted. Follow program; I believe it will be successful:) ...Read more

Does a tummy belt help in toning tummy post pregnancy?

Does a tummy belt help in toning tummy post pregnancy?

No, not a good idea: Actually the opposite is true. Although you may feel and look thinner while wearing a tummy belt, wearing the belt regularly will weaken the underlying muscles, resulting in lose of muscle tone. On physical examination, older women who wore girdles for years stomachs protrude due to weakness of abdominal muscles. It is far better to strengthen the muscles through exercise. ...Read more

Can you use light heating pad on uterus and lower back after IVF transfer?

Can you use light heating pad on uterus and lower back after IVF transfer?

Ask your IVF doc!: I am pretty sure there is no scientific data to answer your question conclusively - so ask your ivf center about this. I would not expect any effect on implantation likelihood if i were you, though. Make sure you are taking Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily, avoid stress/smoking/alcohol, maintain a positive attitude and good luck. ...Read more

Depressed abt my csection could I do tolac with a future pregnancy? Also had a robotic myomectomy not all the way thru the muscle, but high uterine cut

Depressed abt my csection could I do tolac with a future pregnancy? Also had a robotic myomectomy not all the way thru the muscle, but high uterine cut

With those 2 issues: Previous myomectomy and previous c-section it would not be wise. Even if not all the way through the muscle, muscle has been replaced by a scar that could rupture. One must consider their situation. The ability to have a child by c-section, and survive, is a gift brought to you by years of research and technology; if u are depressed, watch where thinking goes. Adjust mind 2 different course. ...Read more

Any way to decrease extra tummy flab after pregnancy or am I stuck with it? I'm 9 weeks post partum and no ab or other exercises help.

There's a reason: It's good that you're wanting to do this - don't give up. The fist 4-8 wks after birth your uterus is still enlarged so external changes won't show - but they will. Here's a good site for what to do in these next mths. Also get ideas from your Dr. http://b4tea.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-reduce-tummy-size-after-delivery.html Best! ...Read more

Tubal with falope rings 3 years ago, late period, signs of period but no blood, emotional, stomach cramping, tender breasts, can i be prego?

Possible butunlikely: The Falope rings are highly effective at occluding your tubes and preventing pregnancy 99% of the time. Unfortunately, an intrauterine or extrauterine pregnancy after a "tubal" can still rarely occur, usually for reasons no one can explain. Be safe. Ask your Gyn for a blood betaHCG pregnancy test which will probably be negative. Your symptoms may be due to ovulation or ovarian hormone problems ...Read more

Can we tie a cotton cloth on abdomen post a c sec to tighten the muscles and incision had a c sec 3 weeks back?

Post C-section: For continuity of care and since the OB/GYN surgeon who performed your c-section knows your case and post operative course the best, it is very important to simply call them and ask about what you can and can not do regarding the post operative course. Most surgeons will want to see you post operatively anyway and then you are assured to be getting the best advice and care. Best wishes. ...Read more
