The doctor prescribed me w/ pantoprazole for hyperacidity can this interact with my ARV? Im taking lamivudine tenofovir and efavirenz for 2yrs now?

Drug Interactions: Yes. You are correct. But, many of us have had to 'bend' the rules to allow our patients some relief. How many people did 3tc (lamivudine) save?

Unable to estimate: It is difficult to estimate how many lives a specific anti-hiv drug like 3tc (lamivudine) saved. This is because 3tc (lamivudine) is often one of three drugs used in an HIV drug regimen or "cocktail". The combination of 3 drugs, also called haart, or highly active anti-retroviral therapy, has saved many lives throughout the entire world and remains the mainstay of treatment. ...Read more

Is lamivudine the best medication for hepatitis b?

No: Lmivudine is one of the earlier medications released for treating both HIV and hepatitis b but it is no longer considered adequate therapy for hepatitis b due to the risk of viral mutation leading to resistance to the medication within the first year or two of treatment. See hepatologist: This doesn't make sense. Those on Lamivudine take100-mg dose by mouth every day, usually for a year, but your doctor may decide to keep you on it longer until your bloodstream shows no sign of hepatitis b dna. If your hep b dna is negative it is difficult to understand how your hep g eag remains positive as this means the virus is multiplying in your liver. See a liver specialist. ...Read more
