Is it ok to take trittico &Lamictal? Chronic anxiety & insomnia, cluster of first ever grand mal seizures, after near fatal accident, 6 ops, pain meds

Discuss with doctor: There may be drug interactions between Trittico and Lamictal. You're also taking pain meds which you don't list. You should check with neurologist or doctor who is treating you for grand mal seizures if ok to add this medication with all the meds you're already on. I'm currently taking risperdone, Artane, Lexapro, and Lamictal. Is it safe to use passion flower with those for insomnia?

I'm currently taking risperdone, Artane, Lexapro, and Lamictal. Is it safe to use passion flower with those for insomnia?

Talk to your doctor : In general, I recommend patients to not combine their psychiatric medications with herbals. Based upon my review of Passion flower, increased drowsiness is the main risk. Some herbals increase the risk of Serotonin syndrome when combined with psych meds. I did not see any reports of this with Passion flower. Talk to your doctor before combining your meds with any herbal preparations. Best wishes! ...Read more

My psychiatrist recently increased my dosage of lamictal and I have had a loss of appetite, vomiting, insomnia, and mood swings, what should I do?

My psychiatrist recently increased my dosage of lamictal and I have had a loss of appetite, vomiting, insomnia, and mood swings, what should I do?

Mood swings: Lamotrigine usually stabilizes depressed mood, when used for treating bipolar type ii. As it raises energy, mood and effects the related systems, it can lead to mood destabilization/elevated states (hypomania or mania) in susceptible individuals. The nausea more likely is a side effect. Call your doctor today to discuss what you are experiencing and medication management options. ...Read more

I am on Lexapro and Lamictal. I take them in the morning. I travel for work and have trouble sleeping. Any recommendations?

Timing meds: Get out your calendar and review timing of meds with prescribing doctor(s). You may do better slightly shifting when you take these meds depending on your travel schedule. If you go away for a day or so at a time and travel is unpredictable, you have work-related stress that won't be solved by these meds. Discuss with your doc or a mental health professional for coping strategies. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Trying to decide which medication to taper off of first- Lamictal, Trazadone, or Klonopin. Have trouble sleeping even with Klonopin and Lamictal.

Why?: It is not clear why you would wish to do this. It sounds like your problems are insufficiently treated, with a continuing disruption in sleep. Perhaps the doses are too low; perhaps their timing needs to be changed; perhaps the medicines need to be replaced. Consult your psychiatrist. ...Read more
