Lactobacillus Rhamnosus Medication
Are there any noticeable differences between lactobacillus rhamnosus and lactobacillus rhamnosus gg?
Doubt you'll notice: The GG strain is a mutant that supposedly has remarkable effects as a probiotic. If you believe everything you read (mostly from obscure sources -- 80% cure of peanut allergy, major protection from colds and so forth), you'd be reading uncritically. I hope you get what you want from it. ...Read more
Probiotic: Probiotics are good bacteria that help your digestive process as well as strengthen your immune system. When you are on antibiotics you reduce all bacteria (good and bad) so probiotics help. People with chronic GI problems, older ages, food intolerances, low immune system can benefit from probiotics. ...Read more
Good for you: Everyone should take a probiotic almost daily to keep your gut healthy and prevent colds/flu's, etc combined with high dose vitamin d to keep serum level at 75 or so. Your gut flora produces antibiotic and antiviral substances, makes vitamins, helps keep your immune system healthy and balanced, and so much more. Take care of your gut and it will take care of you. ...Read more
They really aren't: Strep bacteria often hurt us, causing heart infections, rheumatic fever, tooth decay, and soft tissue infections. If you get involved with cults about stool microbes, they'll tell you that you need to eat special foods loaded with these microbes or your normal body flora and overall health will be ruined. This isn't my focus, but most of these claims seem overstated to me. ...Read more
Health Food Stores &: Any store that sells "health foods" will carry lactobacillus acidophilus. Certain brands like culturelle are also widely sold at pharmacies. There are many different strains with various benefits. Look for a product with high-potency that includes several different strains. See http://newhope360.Com/probiotics/probiotics-strains-matter see my comment for brands i recommend & another link:. ...Read more

What yogurts have lactobacillus acidophilus with no added sugars? Need to know! please help! if possible give me several o the brands!
Plain organic yogurt: Most yogurts have lots of added sugar; it is best to get plain yogurt- you can add fresh fruit on your own if you wish. I strongly advise organic yogurt or else it is probably made from cows fed gmo corn which is best avoided. Some of the best brands are stonyfield farms, wallaby and straus family creamery. ...Read more
Yes,but not together: The only prescriptions that might interfere with acidophilus are antibiotics, but being on antibiotics is when we need probiotics the most! if on antibiotics take a high potency probiotic, at least 20 billion, and take at least a couple hours away from antibiotics. I also advise taking sacchromyces boulardii, a probiotic yeast, if you are on antibiotics- this can be taken at the same time. ...Read more
Stonyfield,Culturele: If you really want the benefits of lactobacillus acidophilus i advise taking it as a supplement, as most yogurts have little if any live cultures. Stonyfield farms is one brand that does have live cultures. For supplements good brands include culturelle, bio-k+, primal defense, dr. Ohirra's & probiotic pearls. See http://www.Probiotic-info.Com/probiotic-supplements-compared/ for more info. ...Read more
Neither: The normal flora of the gut is a combination of hundreds of different bacteria, and taking any one particular strain will not "normalize" the gut flora, it will just change it. Contrary to many sites that promote the use of various probiotic supplements, we are currently only at the beginning of understanding whether probiotics help with anything. Use cautiously! ...Read more
Probably not: The main cavity causing bacteria is streptococcus mutans. They take in sugars from our diet and convert it to acid which in turn, eats away at the enamel of teeth. Good brushing habits and smart eating habits like minimizing ones refined sugar consumption are the best line of defense against developing cavities. Also, a regular dental check up and Fluoride treatment can help keep decay at bay. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is there a way to tell the difference between a yeast infection and too much lactobacillus without having to go to dr?
Vaginal culture shows positive for enterococcus and e coli but my lactobacillus count is normal. Does that mean those 2 aren't causing a problem?
Are probiotics (lactobacillus planetarium 299v 10 billion cfu) safe and/or beneficial for somebody to take that is recovering from acute pancreatitus?
Conflicting research: Some studies have shown benefits and some have shown harm! the study that showed harm involved infusing probiotics directly into the small intestines in patients ill with very severe pancreatitis. See http://www.Criticalcarenutrition.Com/docs/manuscript_editorial_probiotics_in_pancreatitis.Pdf however, there is no evidence of harm in taking oral probiotics while recovering.
