Raspberry: Never heard of raspberry tea to help induce labor, not sure there is much difference between the two. I would talk to your OB before trying to induce labor though. ...Read more

May take a while: If your cervix is not dilated, be prepared for a long induction. Sometimes it happens quickly, but usually not, especially if this is your first child. Bring books, magazines, DVDs, and be patient. The nurses should call you to give instructions, but there is not much to do differently except maybe eat a light meal. Induction: avoid eating after midnight the evening before, be on time, and get some sleep. One of the big reasons labors fail is that the patient is too tired from being up all day and night to push effectively. Bring something comfortable to wear after the baby. Why isn't labor starting? And is induction likely to be succesfull in my situation? I had my son two years ago and i went into labor at 39 weeks and one day. I was 1cm and 70% effefaced when labor started. Thay gave me patosin to speed things up and i end

No : No one can tell you why labor isn't starting... If we knew, then we'd make a drug to make it happen on time, every time (well, i guess that's pitocin!) failed inductions are incredibly rare. Pitocin is synthetic oxytocin, the hormone your body makes naturally to cause uterine contractions. It's highly likely to start your labor, especially if you are at or beyond your due date. ...Read more

The drug has been: Used extensively throughout the country for years. It is good. 25-50 mcg vaginally or orally every 4 hours is the recommended dose but needs to be done in a hospital. May take more than one dose or may take off with just one, can be difficult to predict. There are risks with anything but following dose recommendations is key. Very Very Rare...: Fortunately, Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) is very rare. Most Ob/Gyns practice their entire career without seeing a single case. Oxytocin is recommended for many reasons including prolonged labor. Best wishes! ...Read more
