What lab tests are used for arthritis?

What lab tests are used for arthritis?

Clinical eval +++: The most important 'test' is--as usual--the diagnostic tool between the physician's ears. Any well versed specialist in the field of arthritis (rheumatology) knows that hearing exactly what the details are given by the pt (history) and a careful, thorough exam of all parts of the body, will yield a dx, or at least what tests to order. Besides spirometry test, x ray, echocardiogram at rest, are there any other tests to detect heart failure? Blood tests? Stress test?

Besides spirometry test, x ray, echocardiogram at rest, are there any other tests to detect heart failure? Blood tests? Stress test?

Yes: A cardiac catheterization can determine heart function as well as measure pressures. Spirometry measures lung function, not heart failure. Sometimes this is checked to rule out pulmonary dysfunction as a contributor to the patient's problems. Nuclear scans and specialized ct scans can also give this information. As already mentioned, there is also a blood test called bnp. ...Read more

What blood tests should be done to check for arthritis(all types)&rheumatic pain? Please list all tests needed&would taking Penicilin influence results

Not enough room: 400 characters won't list the labs that a mediocre rheumatologist in a fishing expedition could order. What I can tell you is that no specialty has more labs, and perhaps depends on them less, than rheumatology when it comes to making decisions about management. Penicillin won't affect them. Hoping you get a proper diagnosis. Best wishes. ...Read more

Dermatomysositis.Wat are the blood tests needed,EMG results wheldl, refused tisue test,&muscle biop.wat are genetic blood tests, may explain kids sympt

The pattern of the pain, violet eyelids, sky high muscle enzymes would be pretty diagnostic. Biopsy (which isn't taht bad) would be definitive. EMG (as painful as biopsy) would just show sick muscle. ...Read more
