Recurrent rectal artery bleeding episodes at multiple different sites around biopsy area. Could this be indication of bleeding disorder? What lab test?

Recurrent rectal artery bleeding episodes at multiple different sites around biopsy area. Could this be indication of bleeding disorder? What lab test?

Unlikely: Unlikely, especially if you have not had any issues with bleeding problems prior to this. The anorectal area is very vascular and some slight to moderate bleeding after surgery (hemorrhoidectomy, biopsy, fistula surgery) is not uncommon). Initial basic bleeding tests would be an pt/ptt and CBC with platelet count. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Blood tests positive but biopsy and urease test negative for h.pylori. Is this normal?

The blood test for: H. Pylori checks for antibodies against the bacterium. Antibodies are proteins that help your body fight off infection and they may be detectable indefinitely, even for a lifetime. Biopsy & urease tests check for presence of an active infection. (+) H. Pylori blood test with negative biopsy & urease suggests you had the infection in the past but that it's not currently active. ...Read more

Fetal medicine docs. With a negative verify and sequnom result for downs test would u still recommend amnio for 1in20 risk from routine screen blood?

Fetal medicine docs. With a negative verify and sequnom result for downs test would u still recommend amnio for 1in20 risk from routine screen blood?

NO.: Maternit21 is much more accurate than the ultrasound-dependent serum analyte screening. If the former is reassuring for your risk to have a baby with down syndrome then the latter is irrelevant. Disregard the serum screening and decide about amniocentesis on the basis of the cell free fetal dna analysis. Most couples accept a <1% risk of down syndrome without amniocentesis. Best of luck. ...Read more

Would urine culture & sensitivity test at first antenatal appointment show chlamydia ect?Midwife didn't give me a pap test but took blood and urine.

Would urine culture & sensitivity test at first antenatal appointment show chlamydia ect?Midwife didn't give me a pap test but took blood and urine.

Maybe: Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis or other STDs can only be detected if you look for them. Specialized lab material & personnel time is required. The routine prenatal urinalysis or culture looks for regular germs. Urine could be used to detect chlamydia & gonorrhea if they submit it for the extra testing. The blood could be screened for evidence of several germs (syphilis, herpes) ...Read more

Blood test for pregnancy came positive is blood test 100% accurate and will i see a baby in the ultrasound?

Blood test for pregnancy came positive is blood test 100% accurate and will i see a baby in the ultrasound?

Only if you're good!: That is to say, good at interpretation of scans. I assume from your question that this was an early measurement, and you just missed one or two periods. If so, it will take an expert radiologist to see the developing fetus. You will be able to see a lot more after 4 or 5 months, and it doesn't look much like your baby for about 7 months. Nothing is 100% in medicine. ...Read more

Will a urine pregnancy test done at the doctor's office be accurate 19 days after suspected implantationn bleeding ended?

Will a urine pregnancy test done at the doctor's office be accurate 19 days after suspected implantationn bleeding ended?

Trust the test: Urine pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more
