Anyone taken armour, thyrolar (thyroxine and liothyronine)?

Anyone taken armour, thyrolar (thyroxine and liothyronine)?

Not the best: All of the major professional societies for thyroid specialists, the endocrine society, the american thyroid association, and the american association of clinical endocrinologists have issued formal statements indicating that levothyroxine is the best choice for most patients. Both armour and thyrolar (thyroxine and liothyronine) provide too much T3 relative to t4, making it very difficult to keep tsh, free T4 & T3 normal. ...Read more

My thyroid test shows thyroxine 13.3 microgram %, tri iodo thyroxine 1.81 ng/ml thyroid stimulating hormone 1.8 uIU/ml. Is there any problem?

Thyroid tests: These appear to be normal values, but you did not provide the normal values: the normal range varies from one lab to another. If they're normal, then you are not hyper or hypo thyroid. But why were these tests performed? This needs to be interpreted by whomever ordered these tests. ...Read more

Synthroid (thyroxine) or Armour Thyroid for hypothyriodism?

Synthroid (thyroxine) or Armour Thyroid for hypothyriodism?

Levothyroxine.: Levothyroxine, generic form of synthroid, has many advantages over armour thyroid. The armour product has significant batch to batch variation and has T3 (liothyronine) in it. Since the T3 (liothyronine) portion of armour has a very quick onset and short duration, it can wreak havoc with the ability to effectively treat hypothyroidism. Until there is a long-acting form of T3 (liothyronine) available, stick to levothyroxine. ...Read more

TSH=0.04(0.4-4.5mIU/L)FreeT4=1.5(0.8-1.8ng/dL)FreeT3=2.5(2.3-4.2pg/mL). Have Hashimotos disease, on 112mcg Synthroid. why is tsh so low FT3/FT4 normal?

Any symptoms?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, just one parameter, in this case TSH, slightly out of whack is not a cause for alarm. You may watch and wait. If your clinical situation changes it may warrant repeating the tests. Wish you good health! ...Read more

Depends: Your TSH is suppressed. Consider finding a good integrative medicine doctor or an nd to help with the autoimmune process. They can suggest things to actually bring down the tpo level and help your body heal. For your best long term outcome, more needs to be done than just thyroid meds. ...Read more

Is it safe to take glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, vitamin d, calcium citrate, multivitamin, l arginine, l lysine, l ornthinine, Prilosec together?

Should be fine: I don't see any significant problems taking all of these supplements. If you have any side effects, however, it may be a challenge to know which is the culprit. Typically, side effects from these are minimal or not existent. If you are taking the prilosec due to the others causing GI complaints, you may want to reconsider this strategy. ...Read more

Thyroid nodule: follicular lesion, T4 free is low, T3 (liothyronine) free is low, and TSH 3rd generation is now low. 60 mg of armour thyroid, 50 mcg levothyroid why?

Stop Armour: There is no way to check your levels or keep your thyroid in control in your current regimen. Armour thyroid is ground up pigs. Switch to brand name T4 only and get it regulated. Also, have repeat thyroid biopsy with afirma test and consider surgery to remove nodule depending upon lab and ultrasound. ...Read more
