Knee Swelling Radiating To Ankle
Swelling is the enlargement of organs, skin, or other body parts. It is caused by a buildup of fluid in the tissues. The extra fluid can lead to a rapid increase in weight over a short period of time (days to weeks). Swelling can occur all over the body (generalized) or only in one part ...Read more

37 yrs old this year alone broke right foot twice, knee swelling/popping out of place, now broke pelvic bone. Could it be a medication I am on?
That is a lot of : Fractures in one year. Unless one was a stunt woman or very clumsy -this is difficult to explain. I reviewed side effect profiles for phenergan, (promethazine) Alprazolam ; Apriso — and found no association with fractures. A cartilage tear, a ligament tear, gout or other inflammatory processes or even just osteoarthritis can be the cause of the swelling. It is important to figure out the source. Should I be worried about my knee swelling up on top of my knee cap overnight it feels like a waterballon?
Seek more advice: Most likely this represents swelling within your joint called an effusion or swelling outside the joint on top of the patella, called prepatellar bursitis. Either way, you should seek additional advice via a physician evaluation. For now, limiting your weight-bearing and icing the knee 20 minutes every 1-2 hours would be wise. ...Read more
I have chronic left knee swelling and pain (for 3 years!) after extensive testing diagnosis is synovitis. Any recommendations?
Injection or surgery: I'm assuming after 3 years you have tried pt and antiinflammatories. Draining the knee followed by a cortisone injection (assuming the fluid doesn't look infected) could help. If there is any suspicion for infection, hold off on the cortisone until the synovial fluid has been evaluated. Last resort is to see an ortho surgeon about a synovectomy. ...Read more
Possible causes of sudden knee swelling on the outside of the knee. No pain. Slight tingling sensation. Wasn't injured. Feels like it needs to pop?
Knee Pain: Pain on the outside of the knee is not very specific. Is that the only symptom? Some people have a plica which is folding of the tissue within the lining (synovium) of the knee. It will sometimes cause a catching or popping sensation above the joint line. It is a difficult diagnosis to make unless you can reproduce it in the physician's office. I would monitor it and if it bothers you call md. ...Read more
