Knee Swelling After Meniscus Surgery
I had meniscus surgery three month ago , why still my knee swelling and in pain and since two weeks ago my right knee has pain.It is getting worse.
Depends: It all depends on the type of surgery and the condition of your knee. If you have severe arthritis, then a meniscus surgery may simply have been inadequate. If you had an actual meniscus repair (not that common), then it's possible the repair failed. Also, it's important to rule out an infection. You'll need to see your surgeon for further evaluation. ...Read more
Swelling is the enlargement of organs, skin, or other body parts. It is caused by a buildup of fluid in the tissues. The extra fluid can lead to a rapid increase in weight over a short period of time (days to weeks). Swelling can occur all over the body (generalized) or only in one part ...Read more
What is the typical time for knee swelling to go away after meniscus arthoscopic and ACL reconstruction surgery?
1-4 weeks: It sometimes depends on the type of reconstruction as well as bleeding within the joint. Because of this, it is difficult to predict the amount and duration. Most of these resolve as the body seals and starts to heal. The body also starts to absorb everything over the first month. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Should the swelling be gone? I had arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus 2 weeks ago, and my knee is still swollen at times. Is that something I should be concerned about?
It : It will usually take a few weeks for the swelling to subside. If you have some arthritis as well as a meniscus tear it can take longer for the fluid in your knee to be absorbed. At two weeks post-operation i would not be too worried about having an occasionally swollen knee. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am about 7.5 weeks post ACL and meniscus surgery on my right knee and I've been walking w/out brace for 1 week but swelling, should I be concerned?
Patella dislocation meniscus extruded past tibia. Swelling- large effusion mrii. Knee gave out while walking. Need for surgery? Pops clicks
Depends: Your need for surgery will depend on the stability and/or damage under your knee cap. If this is your first patella dislocation vs the latest ofmor, that could change things as well. The effusion or fluid in the knee is just a symptom of the dislocation. Its really the patella that needs to be evaluated. ...Read more

3 mo. Since surgery of torn meniscus. Cleared back to work as flight attendant. During flight ok, on layover knee swells up. Will this improve w/time?
Yes: At this early phase after surgery, the repeated pressure changes of going up and down in the plane can cause swelling in any surgical site. It sounds like standing and doing the work is ok, which is the good news. In time, your body will figure this out. For some, wearing a thigh high compression garment or a stretchy (neoprene) knee sleeve during flight helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I've had surgery on my left knee tore my ACL and menicus and I've never had problems but the other day after workouts my knee started swelling ?
Every time the cold weather comes my knee swells up with fluid. why? I have a meniscus tear but in summer is doesn’t swell
Vaso-constriction: When it's cold, the veins and surrounding nerves constrict blood vessels in the limbs, to minimize heat loss and help keep warm the core of the body, where vital organs are. But the increased activation of these nerves around joints in response to cold weather might also lead to an increase in the pain a person feels, and cause less fluid/blood flow out of the knee-thus the increased swelling. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
