If you have not had an MRI I recommend you request one. It sounds like you may have a tear in one or multiple tendons, ligaments, or meniscus. If so, you will need surgery to clean the knee out so to speak and repair the damage. In the meantime you can request a steroid injection for the pain and inflammation.

No pain, no problem: We used to think that popping our knuckles, neck, back etc. Caused arthritis. However, there is no evidence of causal relationship has been found until this time.
