Knee, hip, back: If the thigh problem is immediately above the knee this could be a knee problem (cartilage, bakers cyst, joint problem). Knee pain rarely radiates up the leg. Anything higher up is unlikely to be knee. This could also be referred pain from the hip or back. PFPS: You may have what we call patellafemoral pain syndrome. If you get checked out by ortho/sports med you may need pt. If you have pain with stairs, standing up from a seated position, squatting, kneeling all around the knee cap this seems what it could be. Have it looked at, you want to get pt.
