Knee pain swollen lymph nodes - Doctor answers
Several tender swollen lymph nodes in neck for 6 weeks each side. Blood test normal. Intense hip pain and knee pain. Is the joint pain related?
Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more

Sore, swollen lymph nodes under my right arm for 8 months. Spread to groin, & behind both knees. Ct scan neg. Had two sonograms under right arm, but surgeons say nodes not big enough to biopsy?
May need 2nd opinion: Sore lymph nodes are usually inflammatory and not malignant. I'm assuming that your nodes are less than 1 cm in size if your surgeon says they are too small to biopsy. Malignant nodes usually grow slowly to greater than 1cm. That is not an absolute rule and biopsy can be considered if nodes are persistent and are otherwise unexplained. If they persist and are concerning, get another opinion. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I had a scraped knee 2 weeks ago in Mexico that was a bit infected. I now have 1 pea size swollen lymph node (femoral groin). Could they be related?
They are related: Many cutaneous infections tht could arise from a scraped knee resulting even in a minor inflammatory response can result in spread of the superficial infection. This would occur via spread up the superficial lymphatics to reach the groin. The result would be a slightly enlarged node. Warm soaks to knee and groin could help by drawing in blood supply and result in some drgree of resolution. ...Read more
What can cause swollen Inguinal Lymph Nodes (also neck, arm pit and behind knee on occasion) consistently for almost 2 years? (All on left side only)
Lymphadenopathy: When lymph nodes enlarge it is often due to their performing their designated function in helping to fight off an inflammatory process. If these remain enlarged, are fixed to underlying tissues or stony hard in consistency they should be seen by a doctor. Or if you are overly concerned, do that for reassurance. Best wishes. ...Read more
The lymph nodes in the on the back of my knee and the area is very swollen both legs. What can this mean?
Ask your pcp: Isoltated knee injuries (acl tear, meniscus tear, kneecap dislocations etc.)are not associated w/ inflamed inguinal lymph nodes in my experience.
