Ankle swelling: The key thing to remember is whenever you sprain your ankle or knee is to rice: rest, ice. Compression and elevate your foot. This is important to do especially in the first 3 days of the injury. Your ankle and knee will swell because of the injury. Get an ace wrap to wrap around your ankle. Yes, given less walks: Knee arthritis often limits the amount of distance a patient can walk. The muscles in the lower leg help get fluid from the leg back to the heart and require a good amount of walking ideally at least 2500 steps a day. Otherwise, fluid can pool around the ankle. There may be many reasons for this. Re-injury, arthritic changes, etc. You should have it reexamined to make sure. Had same problem many years ago myself.
