I've Suffered with knee pain for the last 16 years after a fall. Now I get pitching pain in my knee what could it be???

Nerve irritation: Possible. The best is to have a complete physical exam to see what is going on in your lower back, your hips, your knees, your feet & have the doctor assess this. In the UK, a physiotherapist is the 1 to check this out. In the US, it's the neuromusculoskeletal medicine (NMM) specialist, who is a D.O., doctor of osteopathic medicine to evaluate & treat. If unsuccessful, can refer to pain specialist.

See below: I am afraid that you have injured your knee--either a ligament or meniscal tear. You will need to see your doctor to confirm.

All of a sudden last night I started experiencing knee pain. I have had no trauma and did not fall. I have used a heating pad but it is stillput weight?

See Ortho if Needed: Usually most pain resolves on its own, however if it persists or you have swelling noted you may want to see an orthopedic doctor to evaluate it further. Use Ibuprofen or aleve (naproxen) around the clock for the next several days to help as well.

See details: There are several possibilities although pain into the calf area often suggests a tear. Tendinitis is also possible as is chondromalacia and even an inflammatory arthritis if the knee is swollen. See an orthopedist if the pain persists.

I have knee pain that almost causes me to fall when walking. Doc did x-rays and said its fluid that builds up. What causes knee pain and what helps?

See a rheumatologist: In a 19-year-old, the most likely cause of fluid in the knee is an injury such as a torn ligament or cartilage. If there was no injury, you should see a rheumatologist to rule out inflammatory arthritis such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis (jia) or rheumatoid arthritis causing the fluid build up. Other diseases such as lupus or spondyloarthritis can also cause swelling of a knee.

I had a fall and landed on my knees, doctor checked my X-rays and told no problem but still, I am experiencing knee pain and knee swelling.

I had a fall and landed on my knees, doctor checked my X-rays and told no problem but still, I am experiencing knee pain and knee swelling.

Mri: Xrays only show the bone and as such are not terribly sensitive. Consider requesting an MRI if you are still having problems. An MRI shows soft tissues and will show if you have torn a ligament in your knee, where an X-ray of that patient might be normal.

Bad knee pain?

Bad knee pain?

SEVERAL CAUSES: 'bad knee pain' could be due to new or old trauma (causing degenerative arthritis/cartilage loss, degenerating ligaments...). Also an acute gout attack can cause 'bad knee pain' and a blood test can check this possibility. Another serious cause of knee pain is acute rheumatoid arthritis which causes swelling and pain (lab tests can distinguish). Finally, a knee infection (septic joint) is a 911.
