After I get a knee surgery(ACL tear), will I still grow? Or will it stunt my growth?

After I get a knee surgery(ACL tear), will I still grow? Or will it stunt my growth?

Plate maturity.: This question needs to be directed to the surgeon that recommended the repair. The growth plate could possibly be affected, depending on the status of the plate opening and the surgical technique . The question of repairing or not repairing has more to do with how the knee might be affected later. The possibility of future meniscal tears and cartilage damage could be increased without a repair. ...Read more

Could I have a partial ACL tear if my knee wants to buckle to one side?

Could I have a partial ACL tear if my knee wants to buckle to one side?

Hard to judge: Buckling to one side does not sound as much like an acl injury. It sounds more like an mcl or lcl injury depending on which side it is buckling on. The acl is more involved in a rotational pivoting restraint than a buckling one. ...Read more

If I have an ACL tear in my knee, can I go skiing or will it make my knee worse? Thank you very much in advance

May not work: with an ACL tear and no brace you will likely have trouble skiing. Even with an ACL brace you may not do well but it's worth a try. At your young age if you want to continue to ski I would recommend surgery. Good luck. ...Read more

Knee injury wrestling, week later no pain bit of instability, can walk fine, coach thinks 2-3 grade ACL tear could that be possible without much pain?

Knee injury wrestling, week later no pain bit of instability, can walk fine, coach thinks 2-3 grade ACL tear could that be possible without much pain?

Yes for sure!: Believe it or not, after a person tears their ACL most all the pain can resolve between 1 to 4 weeks. The initial pain is from the ACL tearing and bleeding into the knee in addition to bone bruises that occur. These all cause initial pain, but as the swelling resides and the bone bruises resolve, a knee with a torn ACL can essentially be painless. This is why some people put it off ......Mistake! ...Read more

I was in ballet and holding onto the barre while my foot was facing straight, i slowly turned my knee inwards and it "popped" ACL tear?

Unknown: An acl tear would usually occur with more stress put on the ligament than as described by your scenario, but it can not be ruled out either. With any knee pain and a pop, you need to get an evaluation and imaging testing ordered. Best wishes. ...Read more

Hello sir , im suffering from a knee pain, instability in walking. Its partial ACL tear, with grade 1 signal in posterior horn of medial meniscus?

See doctor: If you are feeling acute knee pain, and instability in walking, this needs to be looked at more closely by a physician, and evaluated further. You seem to know the diagnosis, and your doctor must've discussed your prognosis, and treatment. Depending on the size of the tear will determine your healing rate. You may need pt too, and wear an ace knee support. Your doctor knows best. ...Read more

Arthroscopy: If you have exhausted all conservative treatments such as ice, anti-inflammatories, injections, and physical therapy, a diagnostic arthroscopy is indicated. Uncertain: If you are experiencing these symptoms from recent injury, old injury, post operative repair, or non-surgical physical therapy. Acute acl injuries in your age group are usually treated surgically while the thinking regarding meniscus repair is in flux between surgical and non surgical. Older or post operative symptoms may require different approaches. Call an orthopedic surgeon. ...Read more
