Klonopin Withdrawal Symptoms
Yesterday my psychiatric nurse practitioner took me off Klonopin abruptly and replaced it with Buspar (buspirone). Now I am experiencing Klonopin withdrawal symptoms. What should I do?
Klonopin (clonazepam) belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines. They are also referred to as sedative-hypnotics & anxiolytics. These medications are used for a variety of indications to include anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasm, seizure, & alcohol withdrawal. All benzodiazepines including Clonazepam are potentially habit forming. Alcohol should be ...Read more

I ran out of Klonopin (clonazepam) two days ago. I experienced withdrawal symptoms. This morning I took .5 mg of Klonopin (clonazepam). How long will it take for the withdrawal symptoms to stop?
Depends: Depends on the dosage and how much you have been taking and how long you have been taking them . Onset on Kloopin is usually up to 2 hours and can last 12 hours. Chances are you are going to need more medication to prevent withdrawal. Speak with your doctor and work out a game plan. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Have 1mg klonopin (clonazepam) take as needed for anxiety. Rarely take, having hard times, if I take 3-4 days a week, will I have withdrawal symptoms on off days?
Probably not: The GABA receptors that are effected by clonazepam (Klonipin) take about two weeks to change enough to induce dependence and your sporadic use gives you a "holiday" between doses. However, do not use more than prescribed. Benzodiazepine (type of med Klonipin belong to) can have potentially life threatening withdrawal. Try to stick with twice a day and taper when you stop using it. ...Read more

I have been off of Klonopin (clonazepam) for six weeks. The withdrawal symptoms have been intense. Is there anything over-the-counter that would ease these symptoms?
Does taking a total of 1.75 mg of klonopin (clonazepam) over a two week period will create withdrawal symptoms?
Highly unlikely: it usually takes at least 0.5 mg per day for several weeks to produce even the most minimal of withdrawal symptoms (very mild anxiety and perhaps insomnia). Most people who get significant withdrawal are taking at least two to three times that amount. People who abuse the drug (or in unusually high prescribed doses) may be on as much as 10 mg per day, at which levels withdrawal can be severe. ...Read more

I take 1/2 a clonazepam in morning and at night 0.5 mg pill will I develop a tolerance where it won't work and will I get withdrawal symptoms?
Clonazepam Tolerance: I appreciate your concern. Clonazepam is in the class of drugs called benzodiazepines, similar to valium, Ativan, Xanax (alprazolam), (alprazolam) etc. Tolerance is more of a risk at much higher doses and with those drugs that are short acting like Xanax (alprazolam). At the clonazepam dose you are taking, you should be fine as long as you follow your doctor's instructions and don't increase the dose on your own. Do not drink alcohol. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

When do the all the lexapro 10mg withdrawal symptoms stop I've been taking it for about 4 years and quit cold turkey 5days ago? I take clonazepam 0.5m
Hopefully Soon: In general it is not a good idea to stop medicines like Lexapro cold turkey especially after you been on it for several years. Usually you're supposed to taper yourself off of it. That is to say you gradually decrease the dose until you stop. I would recommend you ask your doctor or pharmacist about this. ...Read more
