Klonopin (clonazepam) belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines. They are also referred to as sedative-hypnotics & anxiolytics. These medications are used for a variety of indications to include anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasm, seizure, & alcohol withdrawal. All benzodiazepines including Clonazepam are potentially habit forming. Alcohol should be ...Read more
Why?: I am not sure why you would need to take two different benzodiazapines at the same time. Both have potential to build tolerance. I would not prescribe both at the same time to a patient, however different providers select different options. Please discuss this fully with your prescribing provider. Take care. ...Read more
Use caution: Percocet is a narcotic pain med and Ativan is a benzodiazepine. They are both sedating drugs that can cause drowsiness, impaired coordination, slowed respiration, cognitive dulling and dizziness. I would advise caution using both of them together. They should not be used together at high doses. Perhaps you can try a less potent analgesic like a non-steroidal med such as Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen). ...Read more
Not a good idea: Both of these medications puts the person at risk for falling, toxicity, CNS adverse events, and other complications. Xanax (alprazolam) is a drug that should be used sparingly and for only brief periods, since acute withdrawal symptoms and / or seizures can occur with doses as low as 3 mg daily. Wygesic has been shown to cause 60% increase of hip fractures in the elderly. Adding these together is a bad idea. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I take hydrocodone, cyclobenzaprine, amitriptyline, xanax, (alprazolam) and cymbalta. Xanax (alprazolam) as needed, cymbalta brand new - causing nausea. Can I take ondansetron?
Wouldn't recommend: you are already on several drugs which inhibit serotonin reuptake, increasing their levels - amitriptylene, Cymbalta (duloxetine) and cyclobenzaprine all have that potential, and ondansetron does it big time. This can result in the serotonin syndrome which is dangerous and even potentially fatal. All of these drugs also produce sedation. I would talk with your provider and pharmacist about safety of this. ...Read more
It depends.: The answer is yes but be aware that all three medications have sedating side-effects as well as hypotensive properties so that they should not be taken at the same time. ...Read more
Review with doctor: Klonopin and Restoril (temazepam) are similar chemically, sedating, anti-anxiety. Better to take one or the other. However, discuss with prescribing doctor to be sure you understand the reason for taking both. Avoid alcohol while taking these medications. I hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Medication issues: Yes, but both can affect your sensorium, reaction time, balance, etc. in a dose-related fashion and you should not drive or perform other activities with inherent risk with either medication at a minimum until you are on a stable dose with no side effects. It is illegal for you to drive while taking Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) in all 50 states although it is rarely enforced. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Use up the calories!: Anything that uses energy (calories) will help one lose weight, as long as she DOES NOT eat or drink back more calories than she uses up. Examples: if walking, take longer route; use stairs instead of elevators; take several trips to and from the car when unloading groceries; walk the kids to school; at home skip dessert and go walk around the block instead. Must take in fewer calories than used. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

A lot : Looking through the list of medications you posted, there are still several classes that have not been tried. Also, a pain specialist can refer you to other multidisciplinary treatment options. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
There are potential: dangers in combing central nervous system (CNS) depressants. Both opioids and benzodiazepines are CNS depressants, and when used together they may produce what are called "synergistic" effects - where 1+1=5. It also highly depends on the dose. The risks of overdose is much higher in patients who on opioids and benzos, as well as with alcohol. If these are prescribed to you, talk to the doctors. ...Read more
Can you take percocet and klonopin (clonazepam) together? If not, how long do you have to wait between the two? Having anxiety from taking percocet that possible?
Not good together: They can both cause drowsiness, dizziness, impairment in coordination and slowing of respiration. If you need an anxiolytic you should consider a switch to a shorter acting benzodiazepine such as Ativan or xanax (alprazolam) instead of klonopin. If you are not suffering from severe pain consider a switch to Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen from the percocet. ...Read more

Polypharmacy: I am sorry for your misdiagnoses. You are on too many medicines including some that have similar indications. Your situation is quite complex. I would seek out a caring family doctor who can do a detailed psychological intake including the Beck's Depression inventory, the Beck's Anxiety scale, the Hirschfeld questionnaire for a mood disorder, and an Adult ADD inventory. Medicines could be tapered ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Good evening. I recently had jaw surgery and was prescribed 5/325 percocet for pain and klonopin (clonazepam) for jaw clenching at night. I took one pill of percocet at 6pm (5 hours ago), am I safe to take my klonopin (clonazepam) now?
Anxiety: I understand your concern about for jaw clenching at night. Can Flagyl cause hypertonicity & limbs/face numbness as side effect? Was also taking Percocet, benedryl, phenergan, (promethazine) synthroid, & klonopin w/no issue.
Rule out alcohol: Flagyl can cause a build up of a toxic substance if taken with alcohol. The alcohol can be consumed or can be assimilated by hand washes, mouth washes, etc. The toxic build up would be my first guess as to the reason for the side effects noted. With a pharmacist or online you can search for known side effects of flagyl (metronidazole). ...Read more
I take kolonipin 1 mg 3 times a day.. Had a fusion and was prescribed 5 mg Percocet and 350 mg soma (carisoprodol)... Is this ok to take ?
OK with guidelines: The mix of benzodiazepines and opiates, like the ones given to you for pain, is unfortunately a very common practice . It has potential risks for addiction and to worsen depression. However you may be in need of such mix at this point in time. Good for you to be concerned, make sure you only take them as prescribed and try to request a titration or downscale as soon as you can. ...Read more
Percocet and morphine last 5 years for chronic pain. Doesn't have the same effect anymore. Any advice?
Meds not working: After a while of taking these kind of medicines called opioids the body becomes accustomed to them so that they do not work as well. Apart from increasing the dose, One can try alternatives such as stretching, heat, cold, acupuncture, electrical stimulation (TENS), relaxation techniques, etc. Very often using alternative treatment for pain in the long run are more effective than medicines, ...Read more

I took percocet and methyldprednisolone together & body functions have slowed down so much i can't move or think. Should i go to the er? Is it normal?
Dr decreased my percocet from 120 month to 30 and I haven't passed all drug test and it's a chronic back problems. Are they allowed to do this and why?
Several reasons: First of all narcotics like percocet are best used for acute pain, not chronic pain. If not passing your drug test means that the doctor saw illegal substances in your drug screen then that is probably the reason for lowering your percocet. Narcotics mixed with street drugs are very dangerous and can result in death. Doctors can decrease doses if they feel it is necessary or dangerous for you. ...Read more

Stopped Percocet 5mg 48hrs ago. Is it OK to take my Xanax (alprazolam) before my flight? Know I shouldn't combine the two so is Percocet out of my system?
Ask your doctor : It takes Percocet 4-5 days to be out of your system (non-detected on urine drug screening). You should ask your doctor who knows you if it is safe to take your xanax (alprazolam) before your flight. If your doctor gives you the green light, just keep in mind that you could experience some added drowsiness. Talk about starting with half your usual dose. You can always take the other half later if needed. ...Read more
