Could I take Xanax (alprazolam) and Ritalin? Have anxiety/depression/add w/o hyperactivity and the Ritalin makes me somewhat irritable. Also take Prozac 40mg.
Short-acting Ritalin (methylphenidate): works 20-60 min. after a dose, peaks at 1-2 hours & wears off in 3-4 hours. Irritability & anxiety are either side effects or rebound effects as dose wears off. Multiple daily doses must be taken 30 minutes before the prior dose wears off. Long- acting stimulants or non-stimulants that last 24/7 after 4-6 wks. are preferable, even for ADHD-Primarily Inattentive Type. Talk to your psychiatrist. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Are propranolol, synthroid, zyrtec, & amitiza (lubiprostone) gluten free? I am on gluten free diet
Most likely: Gluten is not usually used in formulating any medication. However given that your medications are likely generic, there is no 100% sure way to tell. Been taking. 25 of klonopin (clonazepam) m&n and 5mg celexa. Is it safe to stop the am klonopoin and the celexa and just take the pm dose of klonopin (clonazepam)?
Overall thought safe: Cynthia, Those are low doses of klonopin (clonazepam) and celexa. I would always recommend conferring with your treating provider before making such changes, but on a general level, I do not think that you would experience difficult stopping celexa from the 5mg dose. I would not have a safety concern for stopping the 0.25mg morning dose of klonopin (clonazepam). Long 1/2 life should make this easier to adjust to. ...Read more
I am gluten intolerant (self diagnosed). Is it possible to have panic attacks, anxiety, and depression from consuming gluten?
Doubtful: True gluten intolerance is rare and self diagnosis is unreliable. There is no proven true link between gluten ingestion and psychiatric symptoms. I suggest you read the Consumer's Digest recent issue devoted to gluten. It's easy to understand and up to date but if you're caught up in the gluten fad/frenzy you might not like the conclusions. ...Read more
Probably not: What you are describing sounds more like a physical dependence. It could be an addiction if you are doing this avoid responsibility or withdraw from reality. You should discuss with your doc-maybe an addiction doc if indicated. ...Read more
