Some klinefelter men are mosaics meaning only a percentage of their cells are abnormal with an extra x chromosome. These men may have an easier time. What type of genetic disorder is klinefelter syndrome classified as?

Chromosomal disorder: Klinefelter syndrome is also known as XXY condition. Men with this condtion have an extra x chromosome in most of their cells. Not all men with the condition have all of the symptoms described by klinefelter and many are not even aware that they have the condition. 1 in 500 men are xxy. I am in 15 my testicles size is 5Cmx2.5Cmx2.5Cm as length X width X height. Is that size denies that I have klinefelter syndrome?

Why do you ask?: Klinefelter is a spectrum, but that's actually a pretty big pair -- you're bigger than most of your male buddies. I have trouble believing these measurements unless you actually have Fragile X! If you're getting erections and ejaculations like the other guys, XXY is unlikely and your physician can check to see if you're producing sperms if you can give him a reason. Enjoy becoming a man. ...Read more

Yes: Check out http://www. Mayoclinic. Org/diseases-conditions/klinefelter-syndrome/basics/definition/con-20033637. Not everyone w/Klinefelter syndrome (extra X chromosome) develops all signs & symptoms. However, given that Klinefelter syndrome typically affects testicular development, it's unlikely for someone to have high normal T levels. So while T may be normal, most likely, it's low normal. ...Read more

I am 18 yo and getting tested for klinefelter syndrome, if diagnosed can I expect full male genital developm., facial hair ect. Considering my age?

It's your call: I've known guys with klinefelter / XXY diagnosed at your age or later. If you have it, or if you have real hypogonadism from some other cause, to accept testosterone replacement for athletics & bone health, but be sure you know you do have a choice. You'll get full male body and sexual development like other guys, including the joys and discomforts of being an adult; most xxy's can't be dads. ...Read more
