Klebsiella Oxytoca Bacteria In Semen
Diagnosed with chronic bacterial prostatitis after klebsiella found in semen. Took a 6 week course of cipro (ciprofloxacin). klebsiellia gone but symptoms remain why?
Prostatic infections: Take long time to clear, inspire of prolonged repeated antibiotic treatments, speak to your doctor.
Yes: Orchitis, inflammation of the testicles, usually results from the spread of infection from the epididymis, and under such circumstances it would not be unusual to see the causative agents appear in the semen, but it is the urine which is generally cultured, and under those circumstances those cultures may be positive.
Common bacteria: E. coli and its gram-negative rod relatives, less often staph and strep. Different groups do the workup differently. Chlamydia may be sought by gene probes instead.
Common germ: This is not the most common but is a common germ for urinary tract infections. It generally responds to a number of antibiotics.
I took meds for prostatitis & I am feeling fine. Yesterday, I ejaculated some drops of semen went to anus. Can I get bacteria if semen goes to anus?
Fistula possible: To confirm- you have a chronic prostatitis for which you take abx. When you ejaculate, semen comes out of your anus- if this is the case, you need to see a urologist, to determine if you have a fistula. Normally, there is NO opening between the anus and your prostate; a chronic prostate infection could have caused the opening, or else the opening was present and is now infecting the prostate.See 2 more doctor answers
It may but...: It depends on the resistance profile of specific strain of klebsiella. Many strains acquired in the 'community' are very sensitive to almost all antimicrobials except penicillin and Ampicillin and certainly sensitive to piperacillin/tazobactam. However, especially when acquired in a hospital, klebsiella can be quite resistant to therapy including pip/tazobactam.
Gram-negative bacteria such as escherichia coli or klebsiella pneumoniae on the zone diameter interpretive chart, what does this mean?
Zone diameter chart: I do not know exactly what you are talking about lets chat.
Klebsiella oxytoca in sputum, asymptomatic abx given twice (cefuroxime/cipro)suspended by dr because reaction, worried about abx resistant bacteria?
Infection: Hard to say. I'm not sure if you're asymptomatic why would you need antibiotics. It's best for you to speak to your doctor.
I've been diagnosed with a uti with the bacteria culture of klebsiella pneumoniae over 100, 000. I'm a 43 year old male. I was prescribed keflex 500mg?
UTI in Men: That seems like the correct Antibiotic and you should finish the course usually 10 days and get repeat urine test done after you finish the Antibiotic. Even though UTIs are more common in women, but men can also get it. Sometime there are certain condition which put you at risk of UTI. Like enlarged Prostate, kidney stones, Diabetes and any health condition that affects the immune system.
After c/s of my semen is infected by klebsiella pneumoniae. Is it related with c.trachomatis or different infection? Is it curable?
Different infection: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a different organism from Chlamydia trachomatis and may require 2 different antibiotics to treat and cure both infections. Would follow up with your doctor for further treatment options.
Klebsiella bacteria found in sperm sample. Prescribed ciprofloxacin for 6 weeks. 2 weeks in & no change in symptoms. When will this start to work?
Klebsiella: If you are still having the same symptoms after 2 weeks on cipro, (ciprofloxacin) you should return to your doctor for a follow up visit. The Cipro (ciprofloxacin) might night be as effective for you as it should be.
My dr ordered a culture of my urine and a complete semen analysis. Does this check for all bacteria and infections or would a semen culture be helpful also? Or is it not needed with the first two tests?
Depends: You do not state the reason for the study but i'll assume a prostate problem. A regular urine culture checks for common bacteria but not gonorrhea or chlamydia if a std might be an issue. A semin analysis would normally examine the components and ratio of active to inactive sperm. If your doc ordered the original culture with a std in mind, s/he probably has all needed info. You could ask.See 1 more doctor answer
Diagnosed with klebsiella bacteria in sperm. Predcribed ciprofloxacin. Will this clear it up? Year of pain in my penis due to this. What causes it?
Klebsiella: This story is strange. Not sure who cultures semen, but this may be a uti, and if it is you need a detailed evaluation by a urologist. Even if you respond to Ciprofloxacin treatment you need further evaluation, because it is very rare for a man to get UTI without some underlying issues, and penis pain just makes it more urgent for you to see someone and get better.
