I am not 100% sure but I think I was bitten by a "kissing" bug. What are chances of Chagas' disease? I live in Louisiana.

Chagas: Not enough known to give accurate predictions. Chagas is rare in the U.S. So probability has to be low.

See Dr...: Either primary care or infectious disease (id). The er is not the place to go when you need specialized testing that takes several days to return a result (as the test you mention does). An id dr can also do a thorough exam and look / test for other problems.

Chagas disease: If you were bitten in north america it is extremely unlikely that you will contract chagas disease. The prevalence of the disease here is just too low. Some will develop an ulcer at the site of the bite. Parasitemia is easily demonstrated with blood smears or pcr.

My son has a bifid uvula and kissing tonsils. Treatment?

Hard to say: These are normal findings for a 6-9 yo, usually associated with snoring during sleep and require no treatment. If a 4 yo or a 18 yo with any signs of sleep disturbance, they may need removal. Providing more information when you submit a question allows a more specific answer.

I'm infected with Staph aureus. I know, my bf may be colonized with a Staph by kissing. Can I get infected again by him when my treatment is over?

I'm infected with Staph aureus. I know, my bf may be colonized with a Staph by kissing. Can I get infected again by him when my treatment is over?

Wish I could tell: You no but yes you can get the bacteria to live on your skin again, which is impossible to guard against. You should not get infections all the time, unless there is something not 100% with your immune system -- but Staph is known to live on human skin, most of the time not causing any problems. Hopefully you will not get infections again.

What is best treatment for 3mm osteochrondal defect in medial femoral condyle? Kissing contusion of the knee joint?

Let me advise you: Many patients appear to do well from an arthroscopic washout and debridement where any loose bodies of cartilage are removed and the defect is tidied back to healthy cartilage. However, when this treatment fails to relieve symptoms it is unclear what the best treatment is.

I have a kissing contusion in the inferolateral patella and antherolateral trochlea with overlying articular cartilage defects. What is the treatment?

I have a kissing contusion in the inferolateral patella and antherolateral trochlea with overlying articular cartilage defects. What is the treatment?

Varies: Varies somewhat based upon more exact nature of injury. Contusion simply is one way to say a "bruise". So, if you bruised an area that already had some arthritic loss of cartilage, the injury should improve simply with rest and possibly a brace. If the "cartilage loss" actually represents a displaced osteochondral fracture, then surgery is likely indicated to fix the fracture.

Bug bite that causes large blister, treatment?

Local wound care: Local wound care usually involves washing with a gentle soap and water twice daily, applying antibiotic ointment and monitoring for signs of infection. Increased redness, ulceration, swelling and pain, especially when combined with the appearance of pus indicates an infection which should be evaluated by a primary care physician.

Bug bite that has little blisters around it, treatment?

Bug bite that has little blisters around it, treatment?

Leave it alone.: I generally don't recommend popping blisters of any kind unless they are painful, because of the risk of infection. If it's not bothering you, cover it with a bandaid. If it itches, apply Hydrocortisone cream 2-3 times a day. If it gets painful or tender, or develops a red ring around it, see your doctor or a dermatologist.

After treatment with Clindamycin 300 mg for 10 days the area of bed bug bite is still red. Is this normal? Other areas have faded

HUH????: Why in the world would you take Clindamycin for bedbug bites??? If the diagnosis is correct, get away from them and/or eliminate the bugs. Use prescription clobetasol gel twice a day rubbed in hard. Then you will heal.

Itching?: Make a sticky paste of baking soda & water. Apply to bites. Ice applied to bites can help to reduce itching. Consider calamine lotion. Antihistamines are a consideration.
