Workup needed: High calcium can cause diffuse pain (especially in abdomen) and kidney stones. The issue is why the high calcium? Depending on how high, you may need further tests by your doctor. Make sure you're not taking anything with calcium in it like antacids (e.g. Tums). ...Read more

Difficult: Your physician will advise you on specifics depending on what kind of stone has formed. It is near-certain that you'll be advised strongly to drink as much water as is feasible. Hopefully this will prevent you from having to limit the vitamin d that is benefiting your skeleton. See below: Flomax, and other so-called uro-selective Alpha blocker medications, are used to treat urinary symptoms in men with enlarged prostates. While they are not fda-approved for treatment of stones, research shows that they increase passage of stones from the distal ureter, and i would consider their use for this to be standard of care. They may cause dizziness or low bp, but are safe for both genders. ...Read more
