Prognosis for total kidney and liver failure dyalisis not an option, what type of life expectancy?

Prognosis for total kidney and liver failure dyalisis not an option, what type of life expectancy?

Very poor: Unfortunately very poor however depends on what is meant my "total" failure. If complete kidney failure means not making any urine, then prognosis is typically days, up to 1-2 weeks w/o dialysis. If complete liver failure (your doctor would use prognostic tools such as meld and childs-pugh) and would consider lab values and signs/symptoms of liver failure and typically could be weeks to months. ...Read more

Liver (Definition)

This organ plays a major role in metabolism and has a number of functions in the body, including glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production, and detoxification. Why does liver failure sometimes cause kidney failure?

Why does liver failure sometimes cause kidney failure?

Liver and Kidney: Its a great question and complicated. The syndrome is called hepatorenal syndrome which is often because the amount of blood flow to the kidney is lessened which causes kidney injury- is a simple explanation. It also may be related to the reasons that liver failure ensued: for example hepatitis, drug overdose, toxins etc. Great question! ...Read more

I'm diebetic been a big drinker but I stop I have liver failure don't no the stage what are the symptoms if im starting kidney failure is there pain

Hard to say: Kidney failure only occurs in the very last stages of very severe liver failure, and most people will have ascites (fluid accumulating in the abdominal cavity) and edema (swollen legs and elsewhere) before that occurs. Improvement of the liver disease, which should happen if you completely stop drinking, should help considerably. There is no pain generally, lab tests are needed to follow it. ...Read more

Don't give up, man!!: The questions I hear you asking is, "can I perhaps survive this after all? " you're read, correctly, that when liver failure becomes so severe that it causes the lungs or kidneys to fail, recovery is unlikely. If you are writing this from your home, and fairly comfortable, your kidneys have not failed. A sober, compliant diabetic's liver can heal and work well for him for decades. Be strong, man. ...Read more

It is easy to find o: Kidney failure may or may not cause swelling. But it is easy to check your kidney function with a simple blood test. It is called blood creatininnie level...Normally it is, 1.5mg. If it is 2 mg or over, that means the kidneys are no longer functioning normally. ...Read more

Ascites: You need to have a diagnostic and perhaps a therapeutic paracentesis to remove some ascetic fluid to be sent off to the lab to see what is in the fluid. You also need some blood work as well as a 24 hour urine for a creatinine clearance and protein to see what your kidney function is to see if you have proteinuria. You need to see both a GI doc and nephrologist to get aid your problems asap. ...Read more

Will marijuana use, using a vaporizer (no smoke or combustion) affect pancreas, liver or kidney. I under tobacco smoke does, even marijuana smoke. But vaporizing eliminates all toxins.?

No.: Vaporizing merely eliminates smoke. A marijuana joint burns up to 2, 012 degrees fahrenheit (1.100 degree c) and in the process creates many harmful carcinogens. Smoke is the prime cause of lung cancer and other respiratory disorders but it doesn't eliminate all toxins. ...Read more

I had a MRI results, severe stetosis liver, kidney cysts, and mild atrophy pancreas, have been given pain pills, but no plan for treatment, ?

Treat yourself: Kidney cysts usually need no treatment and there isn't one anyway. You have much more pancreas than you need. Fatty liver in a non-alcoholic and with other serious disease ruled out is often the organ's way of asking for more aerobic exercise. Make that your mainstay if self-care.. ...Read more

Upper right quadrant pain mostly, rarely upper left pain with normal liver, pancreas, ans kidney blood test. Normal Hida I have GERD and gilberts why?

Inherited disorder: Gilbert's disease is liver condition caused by an inherited gene mutation. It is common and generally does not require treatment. Therefore, your right upper quadrant pain is likely due to something else. Your normal tests represent good news (no serious problems these tests would find) and bad news (still don't have diagnosis for your pain). Keep your follow up appts; report new changes. ...Read more
