Kidney Pancreas Liver Failure
Prognosis for total kidney and liver failure dyalisis not an option, what type of life expectancy?
Very poor: Unfortunately very poor however depends on what is meant my "total" failure. If complete kidney failure means not making any urine, then prognosis is typically days, up to 1-2 weeks w/o dialysis. If complete liver failure (your doctor would use prognostic tools such as meld and childs-pugh) and would consider lab values and signs/symptoms of liver failure and typically could be weeks to months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Liver and Kidney: Its a great question and complicated. The syndrome is called hepatorenal syndrome which is often because the amount of blood flow to the kidney is lessened which causes kidney injury- is a simple explanation. It also may be related to the reasons that liver failure ensued: for example hepatitis, drug overdose, toxins etc. Great question! ...Read more
They are not usually: Related but if you have loss of blood flow to all your organs i suppose you can get multi organ failure. You need to consult your doctor. These things do not get better without physician care. Sorry.... ...Read more

Im diebetic been a big drinker but i stop I have liver failure don't no the stage what are the symptoms if im starting kidney failure is there pain
Hard to say: Kidney failure only occurs in the very last stages of very severe liver failure, and most people will have ascites (fluid accumulating in the abdominal cavity) and edema (swollen legs and elsewhere) before that occurs. Improvement of the liver disease, which should happen if you completely stop drinking, should help considerably. There is no pain generally, lab tests are needed to follow it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Others have different requirements. I would visit the National Kidney Foundation website www.kidney.org. Its a great resource. "im diebetic been a big drinker but i stop I have liver failure don't no the stage what are the symptoms of kidney failure & if theres swelling were?
Don't give up, man!!: The questions i hear you asking is, "can i perhaps survive this after all?" you're read, correctly, that when liver failure becomes so severe that it causes the lungs or kidneys to fail, recovery is unlikely. If you are writing this from your home, and fairly comfortable, your kidneys have not failed. A sober, compliant diabetic's liver can heal and work well for him for decades. Be strong, man. ...Read more

My brother suffered liver failure (shutdown), kidney failure and is in a coma. He is diabetic too. What can be done to help him?
Wow, I'm sorry: Hi. Is he at UIHC? I hope so. Diabetes can cause kidney failure. Liver failure can cause kidney failure, but neither diabetes nor kidney failure per se cause liver failure. Do you know the cause of the liver failure? He is obviously very sick. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst. I'm so sorry. Best to him, you, and your family. ...Read more

Ascites : You need to have a diagnostic and perhaps a therapeutic paracentesis to remove some ascetic fluid to be sent off to the lab to see what is in the fluid. You also need some blood work as well as a 24 hour urine for a creatinine clearance and protein to see what your kidney function is to see if you have proteinuria.
