Kidney Infection Pain Worse At Night
Are kidney infections worse at night? Healthy 22yo female. Lower left pain, excruciating at night. Some burning in urine. Tender where kidney is.
Pain: Two issues. First, you really need to see a doctor asap. The symptoms you describe have the potential to be due to a very serious condition. Secondly, pain is often worse at night because you are inactive, your mind focused on only the pain, and it keeps you awake. It may not really be worse but feels that way. Am really concerned about your other symptoms. Please go and see somebody today, . Best. ...Read more

Kidney infection: Kidney infection (pyelonephritis) generally causes fever, chills and very significant flank pain. One generally feels "sick". Bladder infection (cystitis) rarely causes systemic symptoms. Discomfort in the pelvic area and irritative voiding symptoms are typical. If you feel like running, I seriously doubt that you have a "kidney" infection. Shouldn't cause a problem with a bladder infection. ...Read more

No time frame: There is no time frame for worsening of renal function. There are factors (like diabetes, high blood pressure and urine infections) which hasten the process. However if you can control above factors (which you may not be able to do all the time), the decline in renal function can be slowed down till eternity ...Read more
Found out that I have a possible kidney infection, was told if my symptoms got worse to go to the er.?
RU on antibiotics: You should be on appropriate antibiotic therapy. Hope urine culture was taken & you were started on a broad spectrum antibiotic which achieve good tissue levels, such as Cipro (ciprofloxacin) or bactrim, whilst culture is growing. Yes you should go to er if symptoms of fever or flank pain worsen or you start vomiting. Will also need a work up if you do in fact have a kidney infection. Will then need IV antibiotic. ...Read more
Comparative severity: Both are nobody's idea of fun. Kidney stones can result in secondary uti. Kidney infections often require long periods of antibiotic therapy and can potentially produce severe damage. Depending on the cause of stones they can represent disease elsewhere (i.e., hyperparathyroidism, etc.). Would not rate them since both are potentially severe. ...Read more

Reevaluation: Get reevaluated immediately. You are supposed to feel better when treated with medication that address the issue if the organism causing the infection responds to that medication. The doctor would have chosen from a list of medications that has been found to work for that type of infection in the past and may decide to change medications based on what is found on reevaluation ...Read more

DX w/ Kidney Infection. On Pyridium/Cipro for 2 days now. Feeling worse, not better. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Should I make a followup apt
See answer: IF the diagnosis of kidney infection (aka pyelonephritis) is accurate (best established on basis of symptoms, urinalysis, and urine culture), it may take 48-72 hours of antibiotic treatment before you start feeling better. Another possibility is that the bacteria causing the UTI may be resistant to Cipro (ciprofloxacin) which is increasingly common, especially if you have taken this medication in the past. See MD ...Read more

I've been experiencing sharp pain (left side) back pain. Fever&vomiting. Its been three days&it just gets worse. What is this im feeling? Kidney infection
Definitely possible: It sounds like an infection that is either climbing or made its way to your kidney, called pyelonephritis. This can often occur from an untreated, sometimes subclinical urinary tract infection. This can be dangerous and I would recommend seeing a physician as soon as possible as left untreated it can cause kidney damage or systemic infection leading to even more serious problems. Please see someon. ...Read more
I have bad microscopic hematuria for 3 years. It's getting worse & no UTI or kidney infection. If it's not kidney stones what could it be?
I am fighting a fever from 95-102. WBC is 19.6, Neutrophils%auto is 91.9, lymphocytes% auto is 4.4, now vomiting. Have kidney infection getting worse?
I took Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) to treat UTI for three days. I am worse. Now have Vomiting, nausea, cramps, burning urination, fever, and low temps of 96.4. What could this be? Could it be a kidney infection?
Worsening UTI: Yes, these could be signs of a kidney infection, or a bladder infection that is not sensitive to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). The prescribing doctor needs to hear about this immediately, because someone who is vomiting cannot keep down further meds. They will probably arrange a late add-in clinic appointment or ER visit. ...Read more
Can taking BC Powder for a kidney infection and pain, do any harm or make worse for the kidneys? Especially if you take a lot to help the pain.
BC Powder®...: ...is aspirin plus caffeine. You could get the same effect with aspirin alone, or with a cup of coffee (and maybe save money). It won't harm the kidneys except at very large doses, but could upset your stomach and interfere with sleep. If this is your only treatment for possible kidney infection, see doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Otherwise contact with doctor for advice on pain control. ...Read more
Vaginal rash - six weeks ago - UTI turned into kidney infection - now have the same rash again but much worse - can it be another UTI and if so why?
Probably not: UTI does not cause rash in the vulva (I think you are referring to it as vagina). However, the antibiotic used for the UTI can give, as a side effect, a yeast infection in the vaginal area. If you are having no urinary symptoms, it is unlikely to be a UTI. You should be checked by your doctor or your gyn, who will also check a urine sample and diagnose the rash. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Can uti (kidney) infection cause heart pain?? Even worse can it cause one to have a heart attack?

Uti 2 weeks ago, actually kidney infection, continued on cefzon 7 days, missed 2 days, cipro (ciprofloxacin) 2days (too strong), now back to cefzon. Could come back worse?
Risk of resistance: Potentially, yes, as the partial treatment killed the "easy" ones, leaving behind the heartier bacteria to replicate and take over. Hopefully will not be the case, but please be diligent in your compliance with antibiotic regimen--make a medication chart to check off dose by dose to help you remember--that way worst would be late on a dose. ...Read more
