I've used "Proactive" for the keratosis pilaris on the back of my arms and shoulders. It worked well, but I'd like to know of an OTC that may work. ?
Keratosis pilaris: Fine bumps causes by thickening of the top layer of teh skin. These are often treated with prescription lactic acid. Benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in Proactiv and while I've never used it for keratosis pilaris, you could try any drugstore benzoyl peroxide preparation for acne and if Proactiv worked for you. ...Read more

Lac-Hydrin: Keratosis pilaris is not the same as atopic dermatitis. It is an inability of the skin to exfoliate, to turn over if you will. It is common and passed down as autosomal dominant. Keratosis pilaris: Also known as hyperkeratosis follicularis this is a derm problem that usually starts in childhood or adolescence. There is accumulation of keratin around the small pores of the tiny hairs on the back up the upper arm and thighs, occasionally also buttocks.
