Cows urine. Is it safe?I find on the internet that it is highly anti cancerous and lots of health benefits.Ayurvedic sites and doctors recommend this.

No: This is a cruel prank. Any practitioner who offers this is a charlatan. This is doubly true if the practitioner is a "traditional ayurvedic practitioner". Cows were sacred in the old communities in what is now India, and when physicians had nothing, they offered cow urine as if it was magic. It's not. I'm sorry you were suckered. If it worked, they's serve it at the NIH and Putin would drink it. ...Read more

Are ayurvedic weight loss supplements helpful and good for my health. Do they have any side effects. Will I lose weight?

Are ayurvedic weight loss supplements helpful and good for my health. Do they have any side effects. Will I lose weight?

It depends: "Ayurvedic supplements" can mean many different things. It's important to look at the specific ingredients. It's also important to check into the quality and purity of the ingredients. Many supplements are produced without oversight regarding contamination and/or accuracy of the labeling. It's best to find someone who can evaluate those questions who isn't making money on the supplements. ...Read more

What should I eat in ayurveda?

What should I eat in ayurveda?

YOU must decide: The ayurveda is a remarkable compendium of ancient medical lore, but in today's era we cannot consider it evidence-based and at least some of it seems to be people's unreliable impressions. Life's too difficult already without your binding yourself too strictly to the educated guesses of prescientific people, though the community may offer you friendships and personal support. ...Read more

What are useful medicinal plants in ayurveda?

Fascinating: For scientific physicians, ayurveda is a prescientific medical system developed by people observing and making educated guesses. From my own reading, myrrh, ginseng, garlic, and ginko have interesting pharmaceutical properties. Most of us could not recommend them as supplement though some people do use them. Don't use ayurveda in place of evidence-based rx if you are seriously ill. Thanks 4 asking. ...Read more

Can I take any Ayurvedic medicines to help me grow faster?

Can I take any Ayurvedic medicines to help me grow faster?

No, it won't help: Ayurvedic medicines do not make a person taller. By age 17 years, almost all teens have stopped growing taller because the growth areas at the end of their long bones have "fused" or "closed". A teen's pediatrician can plot his heights (from several years back) onto a growth chart to reveal when the teen finished growing. Adding more growth hormone can cause side effects instead of more height. ...Read more

Are Ayurvedic medicines, especially those in which heavy metals are intentionally added safe ?

Caveat emptor: I just presented a case of a guy whose 'traditional practitioner' killed him with arsenic-laced medicines. Get involved with these people at your own risk. Some are ethical. Others are appallingly naive about the dangers they present to the people they are treating. Try to find someone who's regulated by an organization that you trust. ...Read more
