Keflex Not Working
Have a bladder infection. Cannot take cipro (ciprofloxacin) or sulfameth. Taking macrobid, but not working. Can you help me?
Derm switched to ampicillin after minocycline stopped working. (antibiotic resistance) how's this compare to tetracycline? When will it start working?
Acne treatment: Minocycline and tetracycline belong to the same family of antibiotics so both share the same actions and bacterial resistance. Amoxicillin is more stable than Ampicillin and can be given 2x a day compared to 4x a day for ampicillin. As with any antibiotic for acne treatment, give Amoxicillin at least 2 - 4 weeks to effect a change in your acne. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Switching antibiotics from bactrim to Cipro (cipro (ciprofloxacin)floxacin). Bactrim stopped last night/taken for 5 days. Is it ok to start cipro (ciprofloxacin) today or are there any interactions?
It is ok: You didn't say what you were taking the antibiotics for- I am assuming urinary tract infection? Also, I am assuming a medical provider told you to switch and start cipro (ciprofloxacin). If so - there are no significant interactions (as long as you're not allergic). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Wrong antibiotic.: Impetigo is a a skin infection mostly caused by 2 major germs--staph or strep. Whereas Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) actually does a pretty good job with strep-type germs, it is not very effective for staph infection. Therefore, this suggests that your impetigo is probably caused by a staph bacteria instead of strep. Sounds as if you need to call your health care professional for another attempt at your impetigo! ...Read more
Probably best: That you take it a bit easy, as fluoroquinolones, the antibiotic class of levofloxacin, is associated with tendon problems including rare achillles tendon ruptures. But if your are taking an antibiotic, it tells me you have some infection requiring treatment, and that independent of the antibiotic you are taking, you should be resting - though I wouldn't encouraged bed rest either. ...Read more
I have cellulitis. Taking Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) and Keflex. Is it necessary to take both? Do they cancel each other out?
Why are Flagyl and Cipro (ciprofloxacin) taken together? Any problem just taking Flagyl without Cipro (ciprofloxacin)?
Take both of them: There are several infections that might require treatment with both drugs, and taking only one of them could be dangerous. Your doctor wouldn't have prescribed both of them without good reason. Follow his or her advice. If you need more information about the reasons, contact the doctor's office. ...Read more
Minocycline stopped working for acne (bacteria resistance) derm switched to ampicillin. How's this compare to tetracyclines? When will it start workin
Heads up: I see that you are actually taking both isotretinoin and some nerve medicine. During your time on antibiotics, were you also using a topical agent such as the Retin A you also list? Antibiotics will fail otherwise. All acne is manageable nowadays if you have continuity of care. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Been taking doxycycline 7 weeks prostatitus helped but not much can't take cipro (ciprofloxacin) need a stronger antibiotic what is another good choice?
Maybe none...: If doxycycline didn't clear it up, it is unlikely that any other antibiotic will do so. Most prostatitis isn't due to infection; antibiotics often tried but don't help much. Return to the doctor or clinic who prescribed treatment. If in doubt about doctor's expertise, you won't go wrong with one of your country's excellent NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics. Or a urologist. Good luck! ...Read more

Tried trimethoprim, nitrofurantoin and cephalexin for uti. Nothing has worked so far. I'm allergic to augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and penicillin- what else can I try?
How long does it take to start seeing improvement in acne while using bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) antibiotic?
Is taking rocephin (ceftriaxone) and keflex together ok, or will that overdose you on antibiotics?
Unnecessary: They are both similar cephalosporin antibiotics, and do not have much of an additive effect. One or the other should be enough. ...Read more
Child is strep carrier, augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) did not work. Would 10 day supply of clindamycin work?
Work for what?: Being a strep carrier is not the same as having an infection. Normally no antibiotics are necessary and may even cause problems (like thrush, diarrhea, etc.) a good review of the subject is at: http://www.Pediatricweb.Com/madisonpeds/article.Asp?Articletype=9&articleid=851. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
