Karo Syrup For Constipation In Newborns
Probably not: This disease is because of a defect in metabolism of leucine, isoleucine and valine, all present in protein. I believe that mead johnosn may be making a diet for this disease but it is a long time since i had the care of a msud patient----- a very difficult disease to treat and only diet can prevent the mental retardation that is otherwise inevitable. ...Read more
Myo clinic Recomend: Don't treat infant constipation with corn (karo) syrup. Dark corn syrup was once a common home remedy for infant constipation. However, today's commercially prepared dark corn syrup might not contain the type of chemical structure that draws fluid into the intestine and softens stool. This makes dark corn syrup ineffective for infant constipation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Define and use natrl: If your baby is having firm stools that are hard to pass, i accept the label. If breast fed, stooling less often and skipping days i would leave it alone if still soft. Bf infants can stool a little every feed or a crib full once a week.Formula fed kids are expected to go daily. I've had success with undiluted prune or apple juice, 1oz once or twice daily.Water may also help ...Read more
Can i mix miralax (polyethylene glycol) in milk for my2 year old son that suffers from comstipation.
Newborn infants: vary in the type of stools they get with different formulas. Usually Nursoy is not a problem. Not all infants will have a BM daily, and it is common to grunt and strain, but if the stools are hard pellets, then a switch to a different, non soy formula may work. Be sure it is mixed right. Occasionally 5 ml of corn syrup in 1 oz of water may help. If infant has not stooled at all, see doctor. ...Read more

Can Pedialyte and water be used for infant constipation? My 7 wk old has hard stools and pain since switching to AR formula for reflux.
Its on the label: For lactation, colace has on its label: use with caution. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) has on its label: probably safe. Senna has on its label. Probably safe. The reason its written like this is that there are no actual human studies on those medications, the reason is that they didnt need to do studies because no major adverse effects were reported. For specifics, contact your obstetrician. ...Read more
Alternative to Miralax (polyethylene glycol) for Toddler stool softener? I'm concerned about EG and DEG metabolized in kids.
Odd worry: Nothing in mirilax is absorbed into the kids system. It works as a osmotic hydrater and prevents the gut wall from extracting too much fluid from the stool, leaving it moist. It stays in the gut until eliminated. It was used as a prescription med for more than a decade before its safety profile allowed release to general use. ...Read more
My 1 month old son who is formula feed is constipated, extra water isn't helping. Can i put karo syrup in his bottle to help?
Define constipation: Breast fed kids may go a little every feed or one bulky stool every 7-10 days & if soft they are not constipated. Most formula babies go 1-2xd. Any stool that is dried out is constipation & a sign things are not moving along fast enough. Gas is from air swallowed or gas produced by gut germs. Fussy is whatever baby feels pissy about often fatigue. ...Read more
Not specifically: This is an old myth that is perpetuated year to year. Iron given at therapeutic levels can cause constipation, but studies find no correlation with the level in formula. Infants may process one brand of formula slower or faster than another and any delay in emptying will lead to constipation. ...Read more
