Effective at which?: Kaopectate basically is pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate). Both have bismuth salicylic acid which may have some antibacterial properties. Both are Aspirin products though and cannot be given to children or pregnant women or those otherwise intolerant of aspirin.
