The packing is usually changed as often as daily. As the tooth heals the packing will fall out. ...Read more
Pain is pain: As wounds heal, there is inflammation of which pain is an important part. Premedication is an excellent idea but minimizing pain helps as much. Using dressings that do not dry and stick to the wounds (calcium alginates/hydrogels) help a lot. Gently inserting instead of jamming also goes along way to minimizing the pain. Pain means that the nerves are bring irritated which tells us to go slow. ...Read more

Depends a lot: If you are talking about 'packing' this must be a good sized wound, i dislike the term packing as a wound shouldn't be stuffed full rather very lightly filled with a dressing. How long? Depends on how much drainage there is and what materials are soaking it up. A wound specialist will try to adjust dressings to last at least two days. Please see a wound specialist. ...Read more

Depends: It really depends on what the wound looks like the following 24 hours with respect to the quality and quantity of the drainage. Also the physician takes into account the type of material that is packed in the incision. Certain packing can remain in the wound up to seven days while others need to be removed within the first 24 to 48 hours. ...Read more
Is wound packing visible? I am not sure if the packing came out. The abscess was drained and packed but I cannot see any packing.
Yes, packing: material is visible. It is possible that the intended "tail" of the packing has moved into the wound; the wound will have to be explored to find the "tail." I seriously doubt that the packing could have come out without your knowing about it. Perhaps you were instructed in changing your dressing and repacking your wound. See if you can find the tail using your instructions. If not, go in to Doc. ...Read more
Switched COCs, now on mid 3rd pack. Normal to still be spotting til now (starts midcycle usually)? Pills always on time, taking no other medication.
Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very normal on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more
Is it necessary to change the packing of a wound left by the draining of a perianal abscess everyday, since its so painful? My wound is 1.5 inches deep.
Yes!: The point of draing and packing space and then removing the packing and repacking is to prevent an &&andinfection from setting in there. It is not the cleanest part of your body and it will take a while to fully heal. The incision and drainage (I & D) is more important to your cure than whatever antibiotics that you may be taking. As the packing is removed a probe should be inserted & moved aroun ...Read more
Probably, but why?: I think you mean miconazole 3 combo pack. (If you use a dictation speech recognition system, like Siri, you need to read what comes out!) It probably wouldn't hurt to use along with gonorrhea treatment, but it might not be wise. What you think are yeast symptoms might be from the gonorrhea and you may not need the miconazole. Check with the doctor or clinic treating you for gonorrhea. ...Read more

No: I was able to find the source of this urban legend. The outer surface of each strand of pasta has a little bit of starch on it that's not combined into the strand. This rubs off -- try it. People have seen this and thought it was a "dangerous chemical". Relax and enjoy your pasta. ...Read more
