I'm taking birth control, sometimes an hour later than usual, still works or should I take plan b if I had unprotected sex?

You should be okay: Varying the time of birth control dose by an hour or so daily is not significant enough to alter its effectiveness, as long as you continue to take your daily dose. Missing a full day or two does reduce its effectiveness as well as some medications. With unprotected sex, you are still at risk for sexually transmitted infection so I do recommend both. ...Read more

Had sex with condom that didn't break the day after first taking birth control should I take plan b?

No: Unless your condom broke or you weren't using a condom during the entire episode of intercourse, you probably don't need Plan B b/c you weren't exposed to your partner's sperm. As long as you're using condoms w/ your birth control during the 1st week, you should be just fine. ...Read more

I had unprotected sex yesterday but he did not ejaculate inside of me. I just went off of my birth control a week ago. Should I take plan b?

Sex=risk of pregnant: Nothing more untrue than the statement, "...Didn't ejaculate inside therefore....." just prior to ejaculation there is a pre-ejaculate fluid released from the penis and this secretion does contain more than enough sperm (it only takes 1) which can fertilize an egg. You should discuss viable contraceptive options of the "day after" variety with an expert physician. ...Read more

Can I be pregnant? If I had started taking birth control a little over a month ago and had unprotected sex and believe that I had semen in me after, will I get pregnant? If so, do you advise to take the Plan B pill?

Can I be pregnant? If I had started taking birth control a little over a month ago and had unprotected sex and believe that I had semen in me after, will I get pregnant? If so, do you advise to take the Plan B pill?

If: If used correctly, the birth control pill is 99% effective 7 days after you start taking it. It's recommended that you use a back-up method the first week you are on it, but after that, you are protected against pregnancy. The pill becomes less effective if not used properly such as skipping pills or when taking certain medications like antibiotics while on the pill. In those instances, you will want to use a back-up method like the condom. Below is a link which gives more information on the pill. If you have unprotected sex and have not been taking the pill every day, instead of plan b, many pill packs come with instructions on what to do. ...Read more

Essentially no risk: If you were taking your bcp as prescribed and this was your off week, during which you had your period, you will have very, very low risk of getting pregnant. Resume taking your bcp as prescribed for the start of your 28 day cycle.
