Why do you: Think you have pancreatitis? Why do you not believe what the ER doctor told you? Did the ER do any testing, blood work, etc? If your blood work was negative, then you don't have it. If you had no testing to confirm or deny, go see another doctor and find out. Probably reflux which can be related to certain things you eat and drink and alcohol especially can cause reflux. I would tread carefully you might find wine is ok or makes reflux come back.

Doesn't help.: Bismuth products such as Pepto-Bismol do not help with acid reflux. You might want to consider taking antacids such as Tums (calcium carbonate) or Mylanta instead of Pepto-Bismol. Start reacting?: I am not sure what start reacting means. Acid burns are dramatic, painful and sulfuric acid is one of the more dangerous.
