Any feedback regarding juice plus on hypothyroid patients? Not looking to cure but to feel better without leaving my medication.
OK but can do better: I like that juice plus is a concentrate of healthy fruits ; veggies but several of its ingredients are on the ewg's dirty dozen list of most pesticide-laden produce ; there is no indication juice plus is organic. You'd be far better off choosing a product like orac energy greens which is entirely organic or wildcrafted; one serving has the antioxidant power of 24 servings of fruits ; vegetables. ...Read more
I've been told to avoid cruciferous veggies due to my hypothyroidism. Is it ok to drink the greens as a juice? I feel that I need these in my diet.
Juice worse for you: Eating large amounts of cruciferous vegetables can suppress thyroid function, but it's not clear how much. Moderate consumption doesn't have much effect esp. if cooked. Cooking degrades the chemicals that interfere with thyroid. If you eat large amounts raw or juiced then monitor thyroid levels thyroid to see if you need to take more. Taking iodine may balance this. How does blood sugar tie in with hypothroidism? I get thirsty a lot and dizzy and shaky almost frequently if i don't have a sugary drink like juice.
Low thyroid: The sugar issue is likely independent from the thyroid one. It takes days to get the thyroid to get low and feel any real symptoms. You are jittery likely from a low sugar level nd the sugar drink helps with that symptom. Have your family doctor check you glucose level in the morning when you are fasting (no food for 8 or so hours). Also you can check your sugar when you are symptomatic. Good luck. ...Read more
