What are these red dots on my jugular vein?

What are these red dots on my jugular vein?

Hard to say: It's difficult to say what they may represent without knowing more about them and without seeing them. Perhaps they are cherry angiomas, which are extremely common and generally appear as cherry red spots scattered on the body as we get older. I'd suggest seeing your primary care physician to help determine the cause.

If the internal jugular vein is ruptured, why can it lead to air embolus?

If the internal jugular vein is ruptured, why can it lead to air embolus?

AIR EMBOLISM: Small amounts of air often enter the circulation inadvertently during surgery or other medical procedures. An example would be an air bubble entering an IV line. Most of these air bubbles are benign and are stopped at the lungs. If a large vein such as the internal jugular is ruptered, say from trauma or a procedure, air may enter the vein.

Is it possible that my left jugular vein may have bruised when I went on waterslide (Twirling Type) there is mild pain felt.

Is it possible that my left jugular vein may have bruised when I went on waterslide (Twirling Type) there is mild pain felt.

More likely a muscle: If you have pain when touching the area, it is more likley to by a mild injury to your sternocleidomastoid muscle. Try doing some mild neck stretching and if the pain persists or worsens within the next 10-14 days, you may want to go see your Primary Care doctor. Hope this helps. -Dr. Smith

Could a distended jugular vein be possible right sided heart failure? Either primary or secondary to left sided heart failure.

Could a distended jugular vein be possible right sided heart failure? Either primary or secondary to left sided heart failure.

Jugular vein: Yes it is a classical sign but tricky to assess. So your Dr needs to have you at about 45 degrees and observe it carefully as you breath and then check it as he lowers the angle of your lying.

I was laying on my chest and when I got up, I poked myself in my neck with my fingernail. I have this obsessive thought that I poked my jugular vein.

I was laying on my chest and when I got up, I poked myself in my neck with my fingernail. I have this obsessive thought that I poked my jugular vein.

Relax: Unless you are bleeding massively from your neck you did not. The vein is protected by quite a bit of tissue that make it difficult to get to unlike the portrayals on the current TV shows.

Advised that I have a chain of deep swollen lymphnodes on right sided jugular vein? None on left side. What could cause this? Fna booked for 2 weeks

Agree with FNA.: That's certainly concerning. Infection is doubtful given that it's a whole chain. Any other enlarger nodes elsewhere. Might consider hodgkins lymphoma in someone your age. Usual head and neck cancers seen in much older patients. Pet scan worthwhile and would order.

When jugular vein is in pain?

When jugular vein is in pain?

One can feel: Pain in any given vein, jugular vein included, only if the vein is abnormal, i.e. Something happened around or in the vein. Specifically regarding the jugular vein excluding trauma to the vein, the vein can bee clotted even inflamed/infected from infections in the area such as in the throat or neck. So if your feel pain, I would suggest see your physician.

What can cause a malformation of the exterior jugular vein?

I have distended jugular vein that comes and goes with movement. Is that ok?

Is it: On one side or both sides? However since this is not a constant finding, and as long the veins is soft and collapsible I would not be concerned. However, would not be a bed idea to see a physician if ur concerned.
