Big picture: My first concerns are whether your gerd is real -- get endoscoped, and it may be the cause of your cough and if so this is dangerous. There are several rnp's that speak either to mixed connective tissue disease or scleroderma; the latter's unlikely with no raynaud's though gerd can mimic the esophageal troubles.
