Jaw pain. Happened after root canal on L molar. Lower jaw tilted to L when mouth is opened. Dentist said do jaw exercise. RIght remedy? Other option?

Normal: The jaw and tooth can be sore following a root canal for several days. The tooth has been traumatized so there is an inflammatory response. Also jaw had to be opened wide and for extended time so muscles and joint strained. Your dentist wants you to care for your strained jaw with exercise, ice and heat, soft diet and controlled opening. But it has not surfaced yet and during the root canal treatment you must open your mouth wide for a long time. This can trigger the symptoms. Sealent issues: It would be unlikely that the sealants caused the the pain, especially if the discomfort did not start for a year. There may be decay under the sealant but you would need to get an xray to check on it. I would think that a change in your bite could cause all these symptoms, but you will need to see a dentist to evaluate. ...Read more
