How long before a night guard for bruxism can reduce jaw pain? My dentist had a night guard made for me to stop my bruxism and jaw pain a week ago, but I still have jaw pain when I wake up in the morning. How long does it take for the pain to go away? .
Should be better:
My patients typically see improvements within 24 hours. If they don't I start thinking about changing the appliance, is my patient really bruxing, and other alternatives.

Possible joint: It sounds like you may have a possible TMJ problem. The best way is to check with your dentist. Sometimes you grind at night (may be a sleep disturbance), but pain indicates something is wrong. My jaw has popped on occasion most of my life. Recently started c-pap and full mask. When I wake up my jaw hurts and is out of socket. I have to open mouth very wide and then it Pops back in. Feedback?

It can, in a way: Stress doesn't cause jaw pain. However, it often does cause one to clench or grind the teeth, which puts stress on the teeth, jaw, and jaw joints and can cause pain in those areas. Most clenching/grinding occurs at night while sleeping, so one is unaware it is happening.
