Fasting sugar values 90-110; pp values high 200-240. Metformin sr 1g at night, metphormin 500mg + glimpride in morning. Voglibose not effective. Help?
Other medication: You have mostly post prandial hyperglycemia. Metformin and glimeperide work mostly for fasting sugars, the voglibose can help with pp sugars, but it is a weak medication. One should consider being on either a glp-1 agonist (exenatide, liraglutide) or a dpp-4 inhibitor (sitagliptin, saxagliptin, linagliptin, alogliptin) as these are more effective for pp hyperglycemia. ...Read more

Is name brand Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR better than the generic brands? I'm reading horror stories online about the generic brands.
Generic vs. brand: While generics are claimed to be the exact equivalent as brand name medications, individuals may respond better to trade name medications. However most patients tolerate the generics without problem. Since the generics are less expensive and usually have a lower co-pay, i would try it once. If it does not work as well as the brand, it will not take long to make that determination. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
