Self Suffering from Diabetics, last march in 2017 my H1BAC is 9.9 and Last week is 7.7 i. I am under medication of janumet 50/500 .I used to monitor my blood sugar values on daily basis,now days it is fluctuating from 200-90, not sure y this happens?
What to do if I do not use drugs and I am diabetic. I take janumet XR (sitagliptin and metformin) does this have anything to do with it?

Yes: Hi. Metformin and sitagliptin work via different mechanisms, and together are synergistic. So yes, more effective than one drug alone. Note even the combination may not be adequate for achieving tight control. Your doctor will follow your A1c response, and if it's in the mid-low 6's, you're good to go. No. Need Insulin : Type 1 diabetes is a complete lack of Insulin thus Insulin must be given for survival. Symlin (pramlintide) is another injection that can be used with Insulin to treat type 1 diabetes. Amaryl+janumet and other oral medications are indicated for type 2 diabetes(insulin resistance). Janumet (sitagliptin and metformin) is a combo-drug formed by adding sitagliptin (aka, Januvia) and metformin, hence the combo brand name (and combo price tag). It has a BLACK BOX WARNING for potential lactic acidosis which can occur due to metformin accumulation. This is rare, but fatal in 50% of cases, esp. in diabetics w/ kidney disease.
