During ivf mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. A few days later, the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are implanted into the uterus. One cycle of in vitro fertilization ...Read more

Surgical risks: It sounds like you have chronic back pain, and that surgery(ies) have not been helpful. The problem with MRI scans of the spine is that they are good at identifying structural changes but do not let us know what is causing the pain. The changes you note on the MRI are common age associated changes. I suggest you see a physical medicine & rehab doctor (non-surgeon) who specializes in the spine. ...Read more
4 levels at 6dpo on 50mg Clomid (clomiphene) were 12.9 & 10.8. Does this indicate poor egg quality or make fertilization more difficult? I'm on 100mg this cycle.
No worries: Progesterone levels in a cycling woman are either ovulatory or non-ovulatory. If your level was over 1.5-2.0 you ovulated, if level is below 1.0-1.5 you didn't, or at least you didn't yet. People (doctors and patients alike) mistakenly try to use early ( 6 days) p4 levels to decide if a cycle is 'good' or 'not, ' the levels don't tell you that. ...Read more

Hi, 31y, male. Low sperm analysis results. My blood results for : s-tsh - 1.05 miu/l; FSH - 14.9 iu/l; LH - 12.6 iu/l. Where could the problem lie?
Testicular problem: Your lh and fsh levels are elevated. This is consistent with a problem with your testicles producing both testosterone and sperm. There are many possible causes for this including genetic (klinefelters syndrome), infections (mumps), trauma, drugs. Many times we don't know why it occurred. You should see a urologist for evaluation. ...Read more

I'm told that lupron (leuprolide) trigger prevents ohss. Why am i still in sharp pains 60hrs post IVF egg retrieval? Is it pms? Trigger e2 4200, 32 eggs retrieved.
PLEASE: Call your ivf doc about this, do not spend time online. Complications following egg retrieval are uncommon but can be serious; and nothing absolutely predicts ohss but peak e2 of 4200 is definitely risky. Your ivf doctor wants to hear from you! ...Read more

Day 11 from cycle and 8 dys of hormonal therapy for IVF. Today LH 0,780 E2 350pg/ml, 1 follicle -11mm, 3 folicles 13mm. Is that good?
IVF is not simple: IVF is a very complex process and requires a very qualified expert to evaluate all the information and your personal information too. While you have much data that appears promising, you must rely on your doctor to guide you. There are many resources out there but they do not take into account your special circumstances as a patient. I recommend you discuss all these details with your IVF doctor. ...Read more

Six molars are gone, 2 at the top, four at the bottom only 25 years old. Are dental implants a good idea?
Absolutely!!!: If bone quantity/quality are sufficient, go with the implants. Be sure to get a CT scan to make sure no vital structures (nerves, blood vessels, and sinuses) are encroached upon. The other option is a partial denture. Yes dentures are cheaper, but at 43 years of age, you're way too young for dentures. If a bridge is an option you'll eventually loose the abutment teeth as well from recurrent decay. ...Read moreSee 7 more doctor answers

What is the success rate for 1st IVF with the best possible embryo? We did a day 5 blastocyst transfer. My wife is 35 years old. 6 failed IUIs
It depends: It depends on the University Center or MD's office at which the IVF was done. Most results are reported as 3 or 6 month cycles for conception. Some Centers have even reported conception rates when no viable products can be obtained rather than live baby rates. So, this was a question that you should have asked your provider BEFORE embarking on IVF. ...Read more
Preg loss of chromosome normal embryo 2 weeks after cardiac activity detection w/ immunosuppressant, anticoagulant treatments. Chance of future success?
Probably good, but: Impossible to say without tests. Early loss is very common and usually does not increase the risk of happening again. You need to be examined and tested to determine if you have a risk for a second (or more) losses. Good luck. ...Read more
