My boyfriend is 280lbs. He took 15g of ivermectin and applied permetherin cream lastnight for 13 hours. He saw new burrows 8 hrs later. Why?
It takes time: It's because the inflammation from scabies lags hours or even several days behind the the mites' activities or survival. The symptoms are mostly from the body's allergic reaction to the mites, droppings, and eggs, and it takes time for allergic reactions to develop. In fact, with successfully treated scabies, it takes up to 2 weeks for new lesions and itching to stop happening. So give it time. ...Read more

I continue having new outbreaks, 44hrs after taking po Ivermectin for mild scabies, is this normal? Or does this mean tx has failed/isn't effective?
Consider the process: The break out of scabies develops with an immune reaction to the debris left by the living mite in its burrows. Once you kill the mite, it may take a few weeks for the intense itching and bodily reaction to fade, because the drug does not remove the triggering material form your body. I would give it some time before I consider it a failure. ...Read more
I had itching arround my body from a year. I did skin test andwith no result. Adminstrate ivermectin and nothing happen. No one from family had itching.
Suffering from undiagnosed parasitic infection. Ivermectin reduces symptoms for a few days. Looking for a cure.
Does ivermectin kill all the scabies I have on my body? And how do I convince my family to treat themselves and the house?
YES: Treatment requires a prescription, typically of a topical medication such as: permethrins, crotamiton, or lindane. Ivermectin's use in scabies is effective but is "off label" (ie. Not an fda approved indication). Convincing the family will be easy but space limitations can't do justice to this topic- go to the cdc website for the best answer-http://www. Cdc. Is it possible to have scabies after 4months, w/multi doses of Ivermectin, to be reinfected/still have it. But not have gave it to husband or 2 sons?
Need details: How many doses??? Standard is 2------TWO. Were your husband and son treated AT THE SAME TIME???? It is necessary to treat everyone in the home, EVERYONE, including those without symptoms. If they were not treated you would be reinfested. Were you treated with permethrum? Are you sure it is scabies? What was the source? If you have not yet seen a dermatologist, now is a good time. ...Read more
Permethrin failed 4 times. Took first dose of Ivermectin 2 days ago. Still feeling crawling sensation on skin. Normal? Or sign of Ivermectin failure?
Scabies? Give it time: Is this for scabies? It takes up to 3 weeks for scabies rash and itching to clear up. The mites are killed right away, but the immune system continues to react to the mites, eggs, etc in the skin. Re-treatment usually is needed only when symptoms continue beyond 2 weeks. Give it time; discuss with the doctor treating you. ...Read more
I was prescribed ivermectin 3mg tablets for 12 days to treat scabies. Can I use some type of otc topical cream for the itch?
This medication can be combined with an oral steroid. Start with 1% hydrocortisone - mix a good portion with an eczema cream and spread over affected areas within 3 minutes after shower/bath. See your MD for alternative prescription strength creams if this is not helpful. Itch will stop when the body absorbs the dead mite from the skin.

Cannot predict that: HealthTap PRIME began 2 years ago in 2014 and is a Primary Care service. A patient connects with the first available doctor. Different doctors are online at various times. A consultation ends each time, and the doctor does not follow-up after the consultation. Fees are the same, regardless of whether or not the doctor decides to prescribe medication (certain drugs are not available on HealthTap). ...Read more
