I have been diagnoses with tuberculosis lymphadenitis. Is it contagious? My chest X-ray was normal.
What does Basilar Atelectasis mean on a chest X-ray?? I had one done and all was normal except this! What is it?
Squished lung tissue: Basilar atelectasis is compressed lung tissue that is seen on Xray. It typically occurs because the patient did not take a deep enough breath during the X-ray, so the lung tissue at the bases (hence the word, "basilar") appears crowded on X-ray. A very common finding on X-rays. Note that this is different from collapsed lung (that is called a pneumothorax). ...Read more

I had a chest xray and the results came back boarderline. What does this mean? I have been coughing for 6 wks very poorly for 2 wks but on mend now.
Borderline CXR: It likely means that pneumonia could not be definitively diagnosed but that there was a shadow seen that could be compatible with infection. Since you seem to be improving, watch how you feel in the next few weeks. If recovery not complete, another GP visit should be made and perhaps another CXR. Hello, i am 26 years old an recently had a chest ct with dye and it showed thymic tissue, and bibasilar atelectasis... what is this and is it normal?
Not normal: With all these abnormal findings, you need to consult a pulmonologist. The thymic tissue needs further elucidation . What is the reason for the CT chest scan to start with? Do you have myasthenia gravis or some immune defect ? Atelectasis can be explained as airways ending up in a blind alley where there is no longer air sacs to provide air exchange. ...Read more
Had a clear chest xray in December and that's all 2 different doctors would do, scared that I have lung cancer but no cough. Is it likely?

My mom had a triple bypass 9 months ago and now has a persistent cough, but the chest X-ray is normal. What could it be?
?Intubated?: Was she on a mechanical ventilator via an endotracheal tube after her surgery for any length of time? If so, perhaps her vocal cords should be examined as injury to the vocal cords and/or surrounding structures (is she also hoarse? This could mean a nerve injury..) if no other etiology for the cough is found, an ENT doctor could put a small scope in her upper airway and examine her cords in office. ...Read more
Several posibilities: Granulomas are a result of some inflammatory insult to tissues. In the lung they may represent old fungal infection such as histoplasmosis, or may be tuberculosis (in which case you should have a PPD placed and read so that it is part of your medical history). Non infectious causes also occur, such as sarcoidosis, starch granulomas, foreign body granulomas, and on and on. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have given the TB skintest now 24 before. It seems that i m positive and my question is is this curable? And im now 49 year old mother of 4.
Exposure: A positive skin test does not mean that you have tb. It is sign of prior exposure to the tuberculous bacteria in the past. A chest x-ray will need to be done to ensure that there is no active disease. If the chest x-ray is negative you will likely need drug therapy for a period of 6 to 9 months to ensure you do not reactivate TB in the future. ...Read more
