Intrauterine Insemination (Definition)

Intrauterine insemination (iui) is where fresh or frozen partner or donor sperm is prepared or 'washed' to increase the sperm quality then gently injected through your cervix after a speculum exam, like a pap smear exam. It should be painless or cause mild cramping only. Iui helps with mild to moderate sperm problems. Iui preparations should have at least 2 million moving ...Read more

What are artificial insemination success rates?

What are artificial insemination success rates?

It varies!: Insemination, or iui, has success rates that will vary a lot according to such factors as the woman's age, presence of endometriosis, and quantity/quality of sperm being inseminated. Also, some women do "natural cycle" IUI (no drugs), while others use fertility drugs. The success rates average about 10% per attempt (no drugs) and up to 25-30% per cycle with meds. ...Read more

What are the success rates for vasectomy reversal?

What are the success rates for vasectomy reversal?

Excellent: Excellent in the right hands. The expertise of the surgeon is a very important determinant of the ultimate success. Time out from the vasectomy is also important but there is no strict cut-off - the "10 year mark" is a fallacy - just not true. So, find a Urological Surgeon like my self who specializes in Vasectomy Reversal (microsurgical). My practice at Boston Medical Center keeps costs low. ...Read more

Chances of successful IUI at age of 35wid 25%motility?

Azoospermia with 40 million count & 25% motility. Plng to for ivf with donor eggs. Which is the best? Is ivf or icsi? Which has highest success rate

What are the ovulation success rates on low (50iu) FSH injections in Clomid (clomiphene) resistance patients?

What are the ovulation success rates on low (50iu) FSH injections in Clomid (clomiphene) resistance patients?

Good rates, long tim: Fsh will usually stimulate the ovaries very well. The concern is that too many eggs will stimulate and that is why we use a low dose protocol when not doing ivf. The key is patience. It may take 3-4 weeks of injections before the ovulation will occur. If little effect the dose is increased. Sometimes too many eggs will become mature anyway and the cycle will need to be cancelled. ...Read more

On average what is the success rate over 3 cycles of IUI for couples with unexplained infertility?

Average is 3-4 trys: 6 cycles of IUI on injectable medications costs around the same as one cycle of ivf. One takes 6+ months and ivf takes 6 weeks. Here is the "rub". 6 cycles of IUI is not as successful as 1 cycle of ivf. So it is a choice. By doing iui, you "gamble" that it works in 2-3 attempts and save money; but if not, than ultimately it costs more because when IUI does not work, you have to go to ivf. ...Read more

Count is 10 million .. Slugghish motile sperm 25%... Using this immotile sperm will icsi success ? Already we have 2 failed icsi ..

It should work!: Icsi (injecting a sperm into an egg) bypasses poor motility and should succeed. If you have failed two ivf/icsi cycles, i strongly suggest you defer a third cycle, gather up your records, and undergo a second opinion consult at a facility that has a high ivf success rate (you can see mine, for example, at: http://ivfmd.Com/eng/statistics_1.Htm most of my patients conceive on cycle #1! ...Read more

Do sperm donor labs give success rates of their donors?

Success rate of day 3 versus day 5 embryo transfer for IVF. Is one method more successful than the other?

Need more space: to give the full answer. Short answer: they're the same, it depends on the embryo number and embryo quality. Day 5 allows transfer of fewer embryos (less risk of multiples) while keeping rates at the sam level. Could write a book about this, please consult with your MD or could do an online consult full details. Your doc is always first choice! Good wishes. ...Read more
