Intrauterine insemination (iui) is where fresh or frozen partner or donor sperm is prepared or 'washed' to increase the sperm quality then gently injected through your cervix after a speculum exam, like a pap smear exam. It should be painless or cause mild cramping only. Iui helps with mild to moderate sperm problems. Iui preparations should have at least 2 million moving ...Read more
It varies!: Insemination, or iui, has success rates that will vary a lot according to such factors as the woman's age, presence of endometriosis, and quantity/quality of sperm being inseminated. Also, some women do "natural cycle" IUI (no drugs), while others use fertility drugs. The success rates average about 10% per attempt (no drugs) and up to 25-30% per cycle with meds. ...Read more
What are the ovulation success rates on low (50iu) FSH injections in Clomid (clomiphene) resistance patients?
Good rates, long tim: Fsh will usually stimulate the ovaries very well. The concern is that too many eggs will stimulate and that is why we use a low dose protocol when not doing ivf. The key is patience. It may take 3-4 weeks of injections before the ovulation will occur. If little effect the dose is increased. Sometimes too many eggs will become mature anyway and the cycle will need to be cancelled. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Variable: Iui with HCG can give you a pregnancy rate of between 1-20% depending on the situation. Generally if it is not combined with either Clomid (clomiphene) pills or fsh injections, the pregnancy rate per month for someone age 30 is around 3-10% depending on your actual diagnosis and length of infertility. But there is a tremendous amount of variation. ...Read more
Excellent: Excellent in the right hands. The expertise of the surgeon is a very important determinant of the ultimate success. Time out from the vasectomy is also important but there is no strict cut-off - the "10 year mark" is a fallacy - just not true. So, find a Urological Surgeon like my self who specializes in Vasectomy Reversal (microsurgical). My practice at Boston Medical Center keeps costs low. ...Read more

5 failed IUI with letrozole, mild endo removed by laparoscopy, one miscarriage but conceived naturally after 2 yrs. IVF next or Iui with injectables?
No more IUI: Since you've failed 5 IUIs, it is no longer a good option for you, especially for someone with endometriosis. One reason patients with endometriosis not able to conceive naturally, is because the endometriosis will cause pelvic adhesion and tubal dysfunction. IVF is a much better option. If you are afraid of using drugs, you may choose natural cycle IVF or mild stimulation IVF. ...Read more
