Look for causes such as recent antibiotic us, right, non cotton underwear, oral birth control pills containing estrogen, excessive alcohol consumption, diabetes or pregnancy. IUD, recurrent yeast: Incompletely treated yeast is a common cause. If you used one-day or 3-day treatments before, try a 7-day course next time. Also, women will have intercourse more often after an IUD is placed, and that may lead to frequent yeast infections. Unlikley: We do not see more yeast infections in women who have any form of IUD, or any other birth control for that matter. However, 1 in 10 women will experience recurrent vaginal yeast infections for no obvious reason - that can be treated and suppressed with very good results. Hard to answer: The iud is a foreign body that is placed in the uterus for birth control. A string for later removal protrudes through the cervix. I have seen recurrent BV infections in iud users. Bv can usually be cured with intravaginal antibiotics and maximizing vaginal ph to 4. A product called rephresh can reset vaginal ph to 4 as can yogurt (placed in the vagina). Not related: Whille tthee iud strings may increase diischarge it should not cause yeast infection. Hve you actually seen a doctor for evaluation or just called in and gotten an rx over the phone ? I would suggest being seen and evaluated and occasionally people can have resistant strains of yeast which may be your issue and you could need different treatment. ...Read more
