Iud How Long Sperm Survive
Very short time: Often times the IUD itself creates a chemical or hormonal reaction inside the uterus which is immediately toxic to sperm. However, if a sperm gets through and fertilizes an egg, the IUD itself prevents the pregnancy (99% of the time) from implanting in the uterus.See 1 more doctor answer
I have the paragard iud. Some woman have said if your husband cums inside you the sperm will shoot out right away. Will this always happen?
In a word, no...: "Some women", as well intentioned as I'm sure they are, don't seem to understand how the IUD works. The paragard is a copper IUD that creates an inflammatory reaction in the uterus that is toxic to sperm. They don't survive. I'm not sure what "shoot out right away" would even suggest, but it doesn't work in a way that you would notice anything.
Can sperm live in the body for 5 days with Skyla? I had unprotected sex 5 days before iud removed & bled steadily for 6 days 2 days after removal
I have an iud...And I've notice that afer having sex I get a bad smell. You wonder if its his sperm or would I have an infection?
DEPENDS: You might have an infection, usually bacterial which has a fishy or foul smelling odor. This odor can intensify after the introduction of sperm in the vagina after intercouse. The other possibility is that this is just related to intercourse especially if it resolves after a short period of time. As always, if unsure get it evaluated by uor doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
I had sex on the 4&5 of April &had my IUD inserted on the 6 of Apr. Is that sperm still alive? If I get my IUD removed will I get preg from that Sperm?
Probably not: Take a test. It depends on your ovulatory cycle but an IUD prevents implantation so even if you had conceived it would not implant. Removing the IUD after a week? Still unlikely you would get pregnant but it is theoretically possible.
What are the chances of someone with an extremely low sperm count getting me pregnant if I have a copper IUD?
The same as...: Because an IUD works so well, the chance of getting pregnant from a guy with low sperm count is the same as the chance of getting pregnant from a guy with a high sperm count. It's like buying one lottery ticket compared to buying 20 lottery tickets. Your chances of winning the jackpot in either case are the same, close to zero.
Is it normal to bleed after IUD removal? I had intercourse same day nd tryin to get preg. If his sperm came in nd I am poss preg. Will bleed affect it
Still possible if...: As long as insemination occurs at the time of ovulation, pregnancy may happen although the inside of uterus right after iud removal is not in its best condition for implantation. So, just watch and see, and time will tell the story. For more concern, ask and talk with your attending doctor in the field. Best wish...
With a copper IUD only partially expelled, how is it possible to become pregnant if the area is still considered a toxic environment for sperm?
IUD method of action: The Copper IUD's mechanism of action (effectiveness) has nothing to do with the sperm. It works by preventing an already fertilized egg from implanting in the uterine lining (endometrium) when it is placed correctly. If the IUD is not in the correct intrauterine location then conception & implantation will occur. (pregnancy).
Had copper iud. Tubes tied feb 12. Iud removed feb 12. No sex but got sperm on underwear feb 11. Chances of pregnancy?
Pregnancy: Chances of pregnancy as you have described is very, very low.
Feb11had flex-t.No sex but sperm got on panties that stayed on 4 2 hrs after. Feb13 tubes tied IUD out. Hcg 2day less than1.2.Pregnant? Period due2morrow
Is it possible to get pregnant if having unprotected sex the day before getting an IUD inserted? Could sperm travel up into uterus during insertion?
Yes and no: Sperm must travel into your uterus and Fallopian tubed to accomplish their task. They would usually encounter the egg in the tube to fertilize it, and the material then moves to the uterus for implantation.Since that task takes 3-4 days, it is doubtful you would stay pregnant if that happened. The IUD acts as an irritant that prevents implantation. You might fertilize, but not implant, a pregnancy.
Usually minutes: Q: how long do sperm live? A: in general, sperm can live in the right environment for up to 5 days. The right environment would be inside the uterus and the cervix. In certain environments, such as the cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes sperm have a life-span of up to five days. That's why a woman can get pregnant if they ovulate within 5 days after intercourse. Most sperm, however will die with.See 1 more doctor answer
