Itchy White Welts On Skin
Itchy skin everyday. After itch my skin, I get really bad red welts. Don't know why I get itchy skin everyday.
Dry skin?: Apply a moisturizer all over your body immediately after bathing and preferably again in another 12 hrs +/- bathing. Avoid scented and anti-bacterial soaps. May also try an antihistamine to see if this helps. Check any lotion, medication, supplements which were newly introduced prior to onset of your itching. My skin has been very itchy lately & when I scratch it raised welts appear all over my skin and becomes very uncomfortable and even more itchy. ?
Dermographism: Zyrtec-----generic is ceterizine, same but cheaper. Can take daily if need. Some need 2. Some feel sleepy and try instead claratin or Allegra. May need cream to reduce itch. If I even GRAZE my skin anywhere it becomes red inflamed & very itchy and will welt up. Sporadically will happen without contact. No new foods/meds?

I have had itchy skin for quite some time. When I scratch, I get raised welts that aren't red. Sometimes they are parallel lines. Stress?
Dermographism: Twitchy mast cells. A physical urticaria, not an allergy. Skin reacts to stroking. A topical steroid, probably prescription strength, to reduce itch will reduce scratching, thus reduce welting. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Atarax are very sedating and therefor appropriate only at bedtime. MAYBE Athlete's foot: These are often caused by a fungal infection commonly referred to at athlete's foot. There are many different presentations and this is one of them. Use drying soaks (dilute vinegar or epsom salts). One of the otc topicals i recommend is lotrimin (clotrimazole) ultra. If this doesn't work, see a podiatrist. ...Read more
