Red itchy eyes: Red itchy eyes are due to allergies, infection or a foreign body in the eye (like hair), contact lens may also cause this

What could be wrong with my eye? It's swollen and real itchy but only in one eye

What could be wrong with my eye? It's swollen and real itchy but only in one eye

A few possibilities: This could be due to allergies, dry eyes, or eye infections. All can start or affect 1 eye first. The treatments are very different. For allergies, zaditor (ketotifen) is a good otc eye medicine. For dry eyes, lubricating tears are necessary. For infection, usually of the eyelids, start with eyelid warm compress and diluted baby shampoo scrubs. You should have a baseline exam with your eye doctor.

I woke up this morning with one eye swollen and itchy. Do you think something bit me?

A bite or particle: Sudden itching and swelling of one eye is almost always caused by contact with an irritant or allergen. If you see evidence of a bite on the skin, or a particle or insect inside your eye, then you know the cause, but more often than not we cannot figure out the cause. A cool or ice compress should help. Allergens include plant or animal particles on the hands, or even new laundry soap.

Itchy rash: I am more worried about your swollen eye than anything else, you need to seek immediate medical help as this reaction may progress. You may have reacted to a topical lotion you applied or it could be unrelated.

How can I cure red, itchy, swollen, slightly bumpy eyelids/area around eye?

How can I cure red, itchy, swollen, slightly bumpy eyelids/area around eye?

Eyedrops: Check to see if you are using a new skin product, as this can cause a reaction like this. If this has just popped up spontaneously, you can try using artificial tears 4x/day in both eyes. If that doesn't work, there is a OTC drop: 'Zatidor', which works well. You can also use Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) but this will cause drowsiness. If these therapies do not work, consider seeing an eye doctor.

Around my eyelids started to get itchy the rest of my face got tiny bumps then my eyes are swollen?

Around my eyelids started to get itchy the rest of my face got tiny bumps then my eyes are swollen?

Allergic reaction: It appears your face has come in contact with something your allergic to or you have eaten something you are allergic to. You should think about what touched your face or what you have eaten. Being in direct sunlight can cause a reaction like you have. If you do not have Glaucoma, you could consider taking a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) caplet and Zantac to help alliviate your problem. See MD as soon as possible.

Spent all day crying yestrdy. I woke up today with my lower eyelids puffy swollen and crusty, and a little itchy. Can excess crying cause pink eye?

Eyelid edema: Following intense emotional situations with crying, runny nose, and lots of wiping eyelids and nose secretions, the eyelids often swell, eyes look red, and the ocular surface may be slightly irritated. Mucous is generated by the eye in response to the irritation. Sometimes contamination can be introduced into the eye with all the wiping. Not usually an infection results, but if worse, see eye doc.

Many causes!: It could be fluid retention if you sleep on that side, it could be mosquito bite, rubbing of eyes.... Try some cool compress on it. If it persists and recurs, consult a local ophthalmologist.

Swollen eyelid: Put a hot compress on it several times a day. If it gets worse or does not get better after a few days, then go see your eye MD.

Possible stye?: I note you're from the UK. This is a UK based information leaflet. Http://patient. Info/health/stye I recommend that you seek urgent medical attention however as other serious eye infections need to be rapidly excluded.

Sounds like a stye: Sounds like a stye which is an infection of the eyelid. Most go away on there own. Hot moist compresses can help. If it doesn't get better within a few days you need to see an eye doctor.

So my under eyelid is red and swollen, and it's a little itchy, I don't have insurance so I can't go see a doctor I think it's pink eye what can I do?

So my under eyelid is red and swollen, and it's a little itchy, I don't have insurance so I can't go see a doctor I think it's pink eye what can I do?

Hot compresses: Most of the time pink eye causes the eyeball to be red. If this only involves the eyelid, it is either a stye or a mild skin infection. It is more likely a stye if there is a sore spot on the lid. If so, use hot compresses at least 3 times per day. Keep reheating the washcloth so you get 5-10 minutes of heat every time.

The edge of my upper eyelid is a bid swollen. I don't know if it is because of my allergies or a blocked oil gland. My eye Is itchy and sometimes hurt?

The edge of my upper eyelid is a bid swollen. I don't know if it is because of my allergies or a blocked oil gland. My eye Is itchy and sometimes hurt?

Hordeolum: A stye (hordeolum)occurs rather suddenly (MayB from rub). It is a blocked oil gland (s) of the eyelid. It can become secondarily infected and can spread to adjacent tissues leading to cellulitis. Most of these styes respond to very warm compresses 3-4 times/day for 10' followed by gentle massage with a washcloth containing a small amount of baby shampoo. After a week, the stye should nearly resolve.

I got a mosquito bite on my upper eyelid over night and my eye is swollen, stinging, itchy and sore. I've put a cold cloth on it but it hasn't helped.

See answer: Swelling of an eyelid from a mosquito bite isn't unusual and suggest an allergic type reaction. It should respond to an antihistamine such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Zyrtec. If the condition gets worse check with a physician to be sure no infection is present

Allergies...: Allergic rhinitis presents with a variety of symptoms including congestion, running, itching (eyes and nose), and post-nasal drip that can be seasonal or year round. Triggers can be allergic (animal dander, pollen, dust mites) or non-allergic (strong scents/odors, cleaning products, weather changes). See an Allergist for further workup and evaluation.

I had a facet block 9 days ago 6 injections today I noticed 1 of the sites is red, swollen, and itchy like a welt and my eye lids of 1 eye swelled too?

I had a facet block 9 days ago 6 injections today I noticed 1 of the sites is red, swollen, and itchy like a welt and my eye lids of 1 eye swelled too?

Likely: Coincidental. Eye issues are not typically related to the spine at all. There can be occasional pain at site of the facet blocks when the anesthetic wears off. Would recommend ice the back area. See your PCP regarding the eye lid swelling.

The left eye lid sometimes gets red, swollen, and itchy and there's also a little dry patch too...it comes and goes as well, what could it be?

Blepharitis: Sounds like chronic blepharitis, allergy and possible secondary bacterial infection, meibomian gland disease, oily eye lashes, could be molluscum contagiosum. You need lid hygiene, warm compresses, artificial tears, allergy drops, antibiotic drops and a visit to your local medical eye care specialist/ Ophthalmologist for confirmation and treatment.
