Itchy Scalp With No Flaking
Could be...: ...Seborrheic dermatitis (which doesn't always cause flaking), or an allergy to a shampoo or conditioner. Or (i know this sounds gross) you could have head lice. Look for the eggs (called "nits"), which appear as tiny white dots attached to individual hair shafts. You may have to see a dermatologist, since it's pretty hard to examine your own scalp thoroughly.See 1 more doctor answer

Itchy scalp: Try a dandruff shampoo in the shower every night. Use a Hydrocortisone liquid solution after the shampoo if you still itch. If there is no relief, see a dermatologist. Otc shampoos include head & shoulders, selson, dhs, nizoral, (ketoconazole) tsal, tgel, etc. The generics should also work.

Maybe related issues: There are sudden hormonal shifts w/miscarriage. Those shifts put many of the normally growing hairs on scalp into a resting phase. At the end of 3-4 months of this resting phase, hairs shed. Many of them should grow back unless there are other underlying health issues. If there was a significant blood loss w/miscarriage, hair loss could also happen. Flakes are most likely seborrheic dermatitis.
Why do I continue to have dandruff. My scalp is itchy and white flakes. And my head feels like I hit it and hurts but I didn't.
Depends: You may have a more significant case of seborrheic dermatitis, which could be driving the "dandruff" that you notice. Be aware, it could even be psoriasis of the scalp too! . The pain is a bit worrisome for some type of inflammation of the scalp as seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis aren't usually painful unless and infection is complicating things. Please seek help from your doctor. Good luck
Had lice two months ago. Treated properly. Scalp still itchy with white flakes all over some areas of scalp look red + found grays.
Chemical irritation: Itching for a couple of weeks after a head lice infestation and cure is somewhat common. However, some people have sensitive scalps that become inflamed by the chemicals in the treatment shampoo. Shampoos containing zinc (such as DHS shampoo) or steroids (available by Rx) are often used to help with this problem.

Consider pre-shampoo: Thank you for your question regarding flakes and dry scalp. Consider as a first step pre-conditioning your hair and scalp with generous swaths of coconut oil - root to tip- before using a gentle baby shampoo. Wash and condition as usual and note the effect for a month. Increase your intake of water and favor balanced meals. Let me know how this works for you.
